The new platform features Hi Def images, accessory kits, apparel, and the chance to receive feedback from a local Ducati Scrambler dealer
Possibility to personalize a Scrambler even via a mobile device
All of the configurator’s features are created with precision and originality.
Borgo Panigale, Bologna (Italy), July 21 2016 – The new Ducati Scrambler configurator is now live at: Configurator.scramblerducati.com. The platform allows for the personalization of all six versions at any time and even via a mobile device. From the Scrambler Icon, to the Sixty2. From the Urban Enduro, to the Full Throttle, the Classic and the Flack Track Pro, all of the bikes in the Scrambler range can be viewed and made even more unique and distinctive.
The Scrambler configurator is one of the many projects falling under the Ducati Brand Unit that promotes “self-expression”, the concept that characterises the Scrambler universe. All such projects are designed to give room to creativity, expanding the brand using unconventional and increasingly innovative channels.
In terms of motorcycle personalization, the new Ducati Scrambler configurator offers the possibility to choose from more than 60 accessories: original tank covers and three different Scrambler logos; Racing accessories to emphasise the bike’s sport spirit; six different seats; Enduro accessories for rugged protection when off-road; and much more. All of the images available in the configurator are provided in High Definition, ensuring true to life representation.
The platform offers eleven views of the bike, including side, three-quarter, rear, front, from above and from the riding position. Even the setting can be personalized. The Ducati Scrambler configurator can also be used to choose trendy and practical apparel from the latest collection dedicated to the brand. In order to ensure safety, comfort and style, Scrambler apparel include jackets, trousers, gloves, footwear, t-shirts, glasses and even helmets and goggles, all useful and fun.
There is also the ‘Hop on your motorbike’ option, an additional function that lets the customer share a configuration with his/her closest Ducati Scrambler dealer and receive useful feedback in real time. The configurator also allows for via social media sharing.
“Thanks to the new Scrambler configurator, we create the perfect bike for our fans, in a quick and simple way”, comments Piergiorgio Grossi, Ducati Information Technology & Digital Transformation Director. “In addition, we provide them with many useful options so that they can enjoy an experience that is not just about bikes, accessories and clothing, but also instils the sense of belonging to a large Community. This is one of the first steps of Digital Transformation to be implemented by Ducati and results are proving to be significant and competitive. We would like a Ducatista to be a Ducatista not only when riding but everywhere, at all times, and this becomes possible when the Ducati experience also incorporates all the new digital tools”.
Claudio De Angeli, Scrambler Ducati Brand Unit manager, confirms this. “I’m proud that this digital evolution beginning with the Scrambler brand that has always considered viral, informal communication to be one of its strengths. It was no coincidence that in 2014 we chose to focus on digital channels when launching the new Scrambler concept. That was the starting point and today we have an extensive Community through our Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Vimeo pages and via our site. In addition, in the last few days, we’ve also opened a YouTube channel and launched the first Scrambler app dedicated to street food, The Taste of Joy*”.

Ducati debut's the XDiavel and all-new draXter concept
At the Motor Bike Expo of Verona (22-24 January) Ducati exhibited a further addition to its XDiavel cruiser world, the all-new draXter. This “concept bike” interprets the XDiavel world from a Drag-racing viewpoint. The project was developed by the Ducati Design Center's Advanced Design area, a section dedicated to exploring the future style and design concepts of Ducati motorcycles.
Their ideas and sketches have allowed the Ducati prototype department to come up with the draXter, starting from a standard production XDiavel. The beating heart of the draXter is that of an extreme dragster with premium racing componentry. The suspension and brakes are taken directly from the Panigale Superbike. This styling exercise has accentuated the lines and proportions of the XDiavel making them more extreme than ever and turning the draXter into a unique, breath-taking "racer".
The number 90 on the side of the Ducati draXter recalls the racing world, yet also pays homage to Ducati's 90th anniversary, being celebrated this year.

Live Stream of Ducati 2015 World Première in Milan
This year they're doing things a little differently and they're giving Ducati lovers worldwide the ability to get a sneak peak of the Monday event before the show via a live streaming event.
Claudio Domenicali will be introducing the all-new Ducati Multistrada (with its new Testastretta DVT engine) and the 1299 superbike.
Ducati's Variable Timing Explained
Ducati presents the first motorcycle engine with variable timing of both the intake and exhaust camshafts.
Named Ducati Testastretta DVT, Desmodromic Variable Timing, Ducati's new Desmodromic engine is the first in the world with variable timing on both inlet and exhaust camshafts, leading the way for a whole new generation of such engines. The innovative, new design overcomes an engineering gap in current production motorcycle engines and underlines Ducati's strength in developing ground breaking engine and motorcycle technologies.
The variable timing system is able to continuously adjust valve timing, by acting independently on both the intake and exhaust camshafts. The system optimises engine performance throughout the rev range and in any operating condition, to guarantee the highest power, smooth delivery, muscular torque at low rpm and reduced fuel consumption. With full Euro 4 compliance, DVT sets a new standard in the combination of power, delivery and usability of motorcycle engines.
Ducati Testastretta DVT engine characteristics
Brand-new DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) system
Bore 106 mm, stroke 67.9 mm
Capacity 1,198 cm³
Max power 160 HP at 9,500 rpm
Max torque 136 Nm at 7,500 rpm
Dual Spark (DS) ignition
Euro 4 compliant

Ducati Wins Middleweight Division & Two Open Division Podium Positions at Pikes Peak International Hill Climb
Ducati Heads Back to Pikes Peak
On Sunday, June 29, the Spider Grips Ducati team heads back to Colorado Springs for the 92nd running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Piloted by Micky Diamond and Don Canet, the team is sending two Multistrada 1200 S models to the summit of Pikes Peak in the quest to defend the all-time fastest motorcycle record time of 9:52.819 set by Carlin Dunne on a Ducati Multistrada in 2012. A win by either Diamond or Canet will mark five-consecutive years of victories for Ducati and the Multistrada at the historic race.
Practice sessions this week have been quintessentially Pikes Peak, with cold temperatures and weather conditions changing by the minute. Several crashes throughout the week are a constant reminder of how unforgiving the mountain can be. The Spider Grips Ducati team has had strong practice sessions and will head into race day with confidence.

Brand new Ducati Diavel model unveiled in Geneva
New Diavel models with many new features unveiled by Claudio Domenicali (Ducati CEO) during the VW Group Night on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show Stunning, Bologna-built sport cruiser boasts enhanced design, comfort and ergonomics and a new, even smoother and higher-performing engine New Diavel models to arrive in Ducati stores from April 2014 onwards Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy) – Geneva (Switzerland), 3 March 2014 –The brand new Ducati Diavel made its first public appearance at a special preview presentation in Geneva, during the prestigious Volkswagen Group Night. On the eve of the 84th edition of the International Motor Show of Geneva (running from 6-16 March), Claudio Domenicali (CEO of Ducati Motor Holding) personally unveiled the new model on stage during the important evening, providing a stunning preview of the latest machine to join the Ducati range during 2014.
Having introduced its new range of models at the Milan International EICMA Motorcycle Show in November 2013, Ducati’s latest presentation of the new Diavel now successfully achieves the company’s industrial development plan, which had promised one completely new model (the Monster 1200) and three ‘family-extension’ models: the 899 Panigale, the exclusive 1199 “Superleggera” and now the new Diavel.
Ducati now presents further enhancement of its sport cruiser model, featuring the latest version of the Testastretta 11° DS engine, a new exhaust system and latest technological elements such as the new full-LED headlight, all combining the powerful and assertive personality of the model with the sophisticated styling synonymous with the iconic Ducati brand.

The new machine remains in a class of its own, unique, innovative and bold and a benchmark that continues to attract motorcyclists around the world. Built to have a commanding presence, though lightweight and agile in typical Ducati style, the new Diavel takes the rider/motorcycle relationship to another level in absolute comfort. For connoisseurs of technology, the latest generation Testastretta 11° Dual Spark engine combines with full LED illumination, ABS, Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Riding Modes to deliver a confidence-inspiring superiority, while new styling, 162hp and 205kg* (452lb) of pure Ducati drives a comfortable sport lifestyle previously only dreamt of.

A specially engineered 240 section rear tyre combined with Ducati chassis technology serves up mind-blowing handling and lean angles which defy the laws of physics, whether carving through curves or simply cruising the boulevards.
The new Diavel is dressed in stylish Dark Stealth livery, a black trellis frame and black wheels. The Diavel Carbon offers the choice of traditional Ducati Red over Matte Carbon with red frame or the stunning new Star White over Matte Carbon with white frame, both with black, forged wheels by Marchesini, turned and milled to expose the natural aluminium. Both models will start to arrive in Ducati stores around the world from April 2014 onwards.

Ten years after its initial introduction, Ducati’s prestigious Ducati Riding Experience (DRE) is again preparing its motorcycles and riding school staff to teach riders of all levels in 2013, from absolute beginners to experienced race track specialists.
After two years of sell-out success, Ducati is delighted to welcome back the legendary Troy Bayliss for 2013. The three-times World Superbike Champion is set to continue the 'Troy Bayliss Academy', an exclusive and advanced course that focuses on extreme riding techniques. On each of the Academy’s four dates, participants will get the unique opportunity to ride with the Australian and learn specialised track craft on the World Championship circuits of Misano and Mugello. The once-in-a-lifetime experience will use Ducati 1199 Panigale S Superbikes equipped with racing kit components, including complete Termignoni exhaust system, Ducati Performance aero kit and additional carbon fibre parts.
DRE 2013 also sees the introduction of the award-winning Ducati 1199 Panigale to both Racing 1 and Racing 2 courses. The outstanding usability of the 1199, with its Riding Mode technology, makes it an ideal choice for both expert riders and those new to track riding, while the more sophisticated “S” version will be used for the Master Racing and Troy Bayliss Academy courses. The Racing 1 course, intended for riders with little or no track experience, will take place on dedicated circuits, separating participants from the faster Racing 2, Master Racing and Troy Bayliss Academy.
Completing the DRE 2013 offer with road-oriented activities are the very popular Intermediate and Basic courses. The Intermediate course is specially designed to improve participants existing road-riding skills and techniques, while enhancing overall motorcycle safety awareness. The course uses Ducati’s Monster 1100 EVO, the new Multistrada 1200 with semi-active Ducati Skyhook Suspension and the new generation Ducati Hypermotard, all three models equipped with the Ducati Safety Pack of ABS and Ducati Traction Control. Intended for those riders who are completely new to motorcycling, the Basic course provides one-on-one tuition in the paddock area of each event venue using Ducati’s Monster 796, an 'iconic naked' motorcycle ideally suited to those on two wheels for the very first time.
Chief DRE Instructor and highly successful racer, Dario Marchetti, co-ordinates an impressive line-up of teachers, including Troy Bayliss (three-times World Superbike Champion), Marco Lucchinelli (500 World Champion), Manuel Poggiali (125 and 250 World Champion), Paolo Casoli (World Supersport Champion), Andrew Pitt (two-times World Supersport Champion) and Niccolò Canepa (2013 FIM Superstock Championship competitor). While one of Ducati’s very own development riders, Alessandro Valia, presents the Master Racing courses, the formidable track team combines with highly qualified road-oriented instructors to provide a totally professional Ducati Riding Experience.
Ensuring constant development and control of teaching protocols and standards of excellence within all DRE activities during 2013, the courses will continue the valuable collaboration created between Ducati and the Federazione Motociclistica Italiana.

Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy) 11 December, 2012 – For motorcycle enthusiasts, 2012 will undoubtedly go down in history as “the year of the Panigale”, the Italian manufacturer’s high-tech model generating massive interest since its first public appearance and opening a new chapter in the company’s long and successful history.
Despite a motorcycle market in downward trend, the 1199 Panigale has performed as well in the showroom as it has on the road and track, with a total of over 7,500 motorcycles sold during 2012. The sales performance further acknowledges the energy and resources that Ducati has poured into the constant research and development of new product, an approach that has subsequently enabled the company to achieve record commercial and financial results in 2012. Bred for the track and trained for the road, the 1199 Panigale is a true revolution of the species destined to influence the entire sports motorcycle environment. With the click of a button, Ducati’s Riding Mode concept delivers performance with enhanced rider confidence by combining seven class-leading technologies. The latest-generation sports ABS system, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES), Ducati Quick-Shift (DQS), Ducati’s race-derived Engine Brake Control (EBC) and Ride-by-Wire (RbW) are now all programmed into seamless, electronic rider assistance. Even the full colour Thin Film Transistor (TFT) display changes to suit the rider’s environment.
With a unique styling that sets the heart racing even when the motorcycle is at standstill, the innovative and high performance Ducati is available in 1199 Panigale, 1199 Panigale S and 1199 Panigale S Tricolore versions. For 2013, the new 1199 Panigale R will extend the family of models even further, the exclusive flagship of the range representing the machine specially developed with enhanced technical specification by Ducati Corse for World Superbike competition.

Rho (Milan), 12 November 2012 – Following the tradition of presenting its new motorcycles at the EICMA International Motorcycle Show in Milan, Ducati has now officially unveiled its complete 2013 range. The new and innovative models are a product of the genius and creativity of Ducati’s talented designers and engineers, and are set to capture thepublic’s attention at the EICMA 2012 event. The 77th edition of Milan’s International Motorcycle Show will pack the impressive Rho International Fair complex from 15-18 November.
The presentation of the 2013 Ducati range took place at the Milano-Rho Fair Auditorium and provided an opportunity for the CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, Gabriele Del Torchio, to address the capacity audience. During thePress Conference, he explained the international market situation and the business success achieved by the Bologna-based manufacturer during 2012. Despite the global market situation and economic difficulties, Ducati’s growth trend has continued, both in terms of market share and of production and sale volumes. This confirms the company’s secure position, underlined with the recent acquisition by the Audi Group, which subsequently further enhanced Ducati’s structure and organisation, enabling it to face the future with a positive and confident attitude"
“Since 2007, we have only seen “red” on the bodywork of our bikes,” said Gabriele Del Torchio, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding during the press conference. “Ducati’s record turnover of 2011,looks set to increase 20% further by the close of 2012 with over 44,000 motorcycles registered. Our market share has also grown from 2.4% in 2006 to 5.2% in 2012, an equivalent of over 10% share in what we call the ‘Ducati Relevant Market’. Ducati has become even more global today, with approximately 9 motorcycles out of every 10 produced in our Borgo Panigale factory in Bologna destined for foreign markets. The USA is currently our top market, achieving a consistent two-figure growth, while other geographical areas, such as the Far East and Latin America where we are investing major resources and reaping promising results, are still yet to reach their full potential.
“With the arrival of the new shareholders, Ducati is in stronger hands than ever, and being part of the Audi Group will definitely contribute to Ducati’s growth and expansion. This acquisition acknowledges the value of everyone who works in our company, the value of the Ducati brand, and of its past achievements.
“EICMA is the best occasion to show our new models and I am particularly proud to present the new Hypermotard in addition to the rest our 2013 range. The excellence of our ‘emotional appeal’, increasingly important in today’s competitive environment, is cleverly combined with our unmistakeable all-Italian style, and the advanced technology used in our new 2013 range confirms that Ducati is, and will continue to be, a product-oriented company with development and innovation representing the milestones of our growth strategy.”
The Ducati Press Conference for the launch of the 2013 model range also provided an ideal occasion to present Ducati’s official racing program for 2013. Four Ducati riders have already been confirmed in MotoGP with Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso for the factory Ducati Team and Ben Spiesand Andrea Iannone for the satellite team. For World Superbike, the new Team Ducati Alstare was officially announced and, coordinated by the Belgian organisation managed by Francis Batta, will field Carlos Checa and Ayrton Badovini aboard the new 1199 Panigale.
The brand ambassador and guest of honour at the Conference was Daniele Molmenti, Gold Medallist at the London Olympic Games in the K1 Canoe Slalomand a passionate “Ducatista”. While on the podium in London earlier this year, the Olympic medal winner explained that he competes in ared canoe to underline his love for Ducati motorcycles. Molmenti greatly appreciated the chance to preview the 2013 models and was particularly interested in the new Superbike 1199 Panigale R, a masterpiece of applied technology and pure performance.
Claudio Domenicali, General Manager of Ducati Motor Holding, then took to the stage to explain the details and features of the 2013 Ducati models. Hefocused in particular on the long-awaited new generation Hypermotard family, and underlined the major, strategic role of the 1199 Panigale supersport model and its world debut with the prestigious R version.
“Here at EICMA 2012 we present one totally new model and a series of significantly updated models in line with our strategic plan,” Said General Manager, Claudio Domenicali at the Press Conference. “The Hypermotard is completely new. Technologically enhanced and presented in standard and SP versions, it has a brand new 4-valve per cylinder, liquid-cooled, Testastretta 11° engine, equipped also with our new secondary air system. The new motorcycle maintains the spirit of the original Ducati Hypermotard, but widens its accessibility with a larger fuel tank and revised ergonomics. We also present the Hyperstrada, a model equipped with a series of features that extend the motorcycle’s use into the world of touring, while maintaining the fun-to-ride character typical of a supermotard.
“With our passion for racing and sport bikes, we just had to produce an ‘R’ version of the 1199 Panigale. The ‘R’ title represents Ducati’s maximum expression of technology. In this case, connecting rods in titanium in addition to many other lightweight components and a race kit that represents a package ideal from which to develop the Superbike version, which will race next year. We have also decided to extend the Diavel range with the introduction of the Diavel Strada. Equipped with luggage, large screen and revised, more upright riding position, the Diavel is now ready also to entertain riders on longer rides outside the city.”
2013 Ducati Hypermotard family
As expected, the focus of attention at the presentation was on the new generation of the Hypermotard family. It takes the innovation and excitement of the original concept and enhances it even further with three incredible new models: The thrilling Hypermotard, Hypermotard SP and the introduction of a stylish and accessible mid-range tourer with everyday practicality – The Hyperstrada. The new range combines Ducati's latest technologies with outstanding Italian design and engineering to write the latest chapter in the Hypermotard story. The Hypermotard and Hypermotard SP deliver a thrilling and fun filled experience, whether on the daily commute or ripping-up the track asphalt, while the Hyperstrada awaits long distance adventure, enabling practical, everyday motorcycling in absolute Ducati style.

This top-of-the-range model is also fitted with a special race-style seat fabric for added “feel” and equipped with the GPS-enhanced Ducati Data Acquisition system, for automatic lap times and circuit map-linked data. If left unchecked, the damage could cause a brake fluid leak, leading to a front brake system failure. This could result in a vehicle crash causing personal injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will install different hardware that will not damage the hose.
Transport Canada Recall # 2012270
Units Affected: 169
On certain motorcycles, the swingarm shaft pivots could loosen from the swingarm, which could cause a loss of control resulting in a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will tighten both swingarm shaft pivots to specifications.
Transport Canada Recall # 2012269
Units Affected: 169
On certain motorcycles, the steering damper mounting bolts at the steering head were assembled with an insufficient amount of thread locking compound and could loosen during vehicle operation. Also, due to incorrect assembly tolerance, the steering damper's uniball bearing could separate. Both these issues would cause the steering damper to become disconnected and fail to function correctly, resulting in altered handling characteristics and an increased risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install a special washer at the steering damper's mounting point and apply thread locking compound to the mounting bolts and torque to specifications.
Transport Canada Recall # 2012268
Units Affected: 169
On certain motorcycles, in extreme cases, engine heat could cause the exhaust butterfly Bowden cable to melt or burn, which could cause property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the cable with an updated design.
Ducati wins Pikes Peak International Hill
Carlin Dunne Earns Back-to-Back Victories and Course Records on a Ducati Multistrada 1200 S Carlin Dunne dominated the 2012 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, setting the new course record for motorcycles today from pole position for the second year in a row on a Ducati Multistrada 1200 S. This win marks Ducati’s third-straight victory at the historic race to the clouds.
“Today was an emotional day,” said Dunne. “The year of work the Spider Grips Ducati team put into preparing for Pikes Peak got us across the finish line in under 10 minutes, an achievement we’re very proud of. When we heard that we won and broke the record for the second time, I was speechless. The one-two finish proves the Ducati Multistrada 1200 S is the ultimate bike to conquer Pikes Peak.”
Dunne reached speeds above 144 MPH throughout the mountain’s straightaways, and traversed 156 turns, ranging from hairpin, blind, decreasing radius, and multi-apex turns, while consistently gaining elevation up the technical 12.42-mile course.
“Ducatisti around the world are celebrating the victory of Carlin Dunne and the Spider Grips Ducati Team – we are all very proud,” said Dominique Cheraki, General Manager of Ducati North America. “Three years ago we chose the Multistrada 1200 S to compete at Pikes Peak to showcase its on-and-off road capabilities, class-leading ergonomics, handling, and performance. When we were alerted that the entire course would be paved in 2012, there was no doubt that the Multistrada 1200 S was still the right choice and breaking the record today proves this.”

Nicky Hayden, Ducati Team
“I’m very happy that I’ll be back with Ducati and back in MotoGP, racing at the highest level for a very important team. I love the guys I work with, I love the Ducati fans, and I love the brand. This is an important time for Ducati in a number of ways, and I’m excited that I’ll continue to be a part of it. I feel like I’ve got some unfinished business here, and hopefully we can get all the pieces into place and reap the rewards of the hard work we’ve put in the last couple of years. It’s nice to be able to make this announcement at Laguna and to share the moment with my fans, friends and family. If I can do a good result on Sunday, it could make for a pretty special birthday weekend.”

The team at the publication have acknowledged the 1199 Panigale's impact on the future of the motorcycle industry and applauded the incredible package offered in this Superbike.

Audi AG appoint new Ducati Board of Directors and Executive Committee
The acquisition of Ducati Motor Holding by Audi AG has been fully completed through its controlled company, Automobili LamborghiniS.p.A.
The new Board of Directors appointed the CEO of Audi AG, Rupert Stadler, as President of the Board and Gabriele Del Torchio and Claudio Domenicali from Ducati as Members of the Board alongside Horst Glaser and Axel Strotbek of Audi AG.
The Board of Directors then additionally appointed Gabriele Del Torchio as CEO of Ducati Motor Holding and, during the same meeting, formed the new Ducati Motor Holding Executive Committee of Members of the Board, members of the Ducati Motor Holding Management and further appointing Gabriele Del Torchio as President.
Audi AG also made the decision to appoint Gabriele Del Torchio to the Board of Directors of Automobili Lamborghini SPA.
Audi CEO addresses Ducati workforce
Mr. Rupert Stadler, CEO of AUDI AG, accompanied by Mr.Thomas Sigi, responsible for AUDI AG Human Resources, visited the Ducati factory in Borgo Panigale , Bologna, Italy today, received by Ducati’s President and CEO, Gabriele Del Torchio and Ducati Management. After additional meetings with local RSU (Rappresentanza Sindacale Unitaria) union representatives, Mr. Stadler addressed the entire Ducati workforce of approximately 1000 people with a motivational speech that underlined Audi’s passion for the iconic Italian motorcycle manufacturer.
“What is true in every romance also applies to two companies - a good start is half the battle,” said Mr. Stadler from a special stagebuilt inside the Ducati factory. “You’ve probably wondered why we were interested in Ducati, a car manufacturer with no apparent ties to Ducati at first glance. But that's only at first glance. Ducati stands for extraordinary engineering artistry, passion, precision, performance and the sheer joy of living. We're impressed by these achievements.
"I know that I'm looking at an outstanding group here, and that you are a strong team! Without you, Ducati would not be such an attractive company today. Audi and Ducati are both driven by the same passion. Neither of us will detract from the other, we will complement one another. And one very important aspect that means a lot to me is that we can be an inspiration to each other. There are many joint opportunities with high-performance engines, light-weight manufacturing and the skilled interplay between two strong brands on the global stage. Both companies, each with an eventful history of 'ups' and 'downs', can now benefit from being part of one big family – the Volkswagen Group. I am very pleased to report that the antitrust authorities approved the deal at the beginning of July and that eliminated the final obstacle en route to the start of our shared future. Ducati will officially be part of the Audi family by next week!
“This brings me to an important message that I would like to leave with you today. A message that is certainly uppermost in your minds. Ladies and gentlemen, this message consists of three words and you have my guarantee: Ducati remains Ducati.”

Ducati North America announces new 12-month sales record
Sales at Ducati North America reached a new 12-month high, surpassing the previous record set in 2007, with 10,094 new motorcycles delivered. A retail sales gain of 26 percent was also recorded in Q2 compared to the same period in 2011, marking the eighth consecutive quarter of growth. This success further solidifies North America’s position as Ducati’s largest global market.
Ducati also reported substantial growth for the brand’s apparel and accessories line with a 25 percent increase in Q2.
Ducati’s growth was fueled by the arrival of new models in dealerships, including the highly anticipated 1199 Panigale Superbike, which recently earned “2012 Motorcycle of the Year” by Motorcyclist magazine, and the confidence-inspiring Streetfighter 848. Also new to the Ducati product line is the Diavel Cromo, a vintage interpretation of the powerful Diavel, with a striking chrome-plated tank and classic Ducati logos.
“There are many factors that led us to reach this milestone, but none are as significant as the constant support we receive from our passionate customers and the tremendous contributions that are made daily by our dealer partners,” said Cristiano Silei, CEO of Ducati North America. “Combined with the company’s most attractive commercial and marketing programs to date and the largest product line in our history, we are confident this growth will continue into the rest of 2012.”
Ducati will continue to strengthen its dealer network in North America. Through investments in advanced dealer trainings, new experience-based marketing initiatives, and further integration of the brand’s new Retail Identity program, Ducati is poised to set a new standard in sales and service.
Ducati President announces record sales figures
During a press conference held at the World Ducati Week 2012, the President of Ducati Motor Holding, Gabriele Del Torchio, has highlighted Ducati’s constant growth and record-breaking sales (+12%) and revenues (+20% YTD) achieved by Ducati in May 2012.
Ducati’s massive gathering of passionate fans and owners from all over the world - World Ducati Week, running from 21-24 June at the Misano World Circuit in Misano Adriatico - provided Gabriele Del Torchio anideal platform from which to deliver the latest figures from Ducati’sinternational market and the excellent sales results that the Bologna-based premium motorcycle manufacturer achieved during the opening months of 2012. Despite a difficult market and a slowing global economy, Ducati continues to grow and improve in terms of market share, output volumes and sales, clearly highlighting the security of a company that is now well structured, strategically organised and ready to move into the future with a change of ownership.
“This is my third WDW and a key moment for everyone who works at Ducati,” said Mr. Del Torchio at the Press Conference. “Through this event, we have the opportunity to share our passion and pride in beingpart of a prestigious, long-standing brand such as Ducati with the thousands of Ducatisti who have ridden to the Riviera Romagnola from all over the world. We are on the brink of a new era, one that the company begins in the knowledge that all the goals set together with Investindustrial have been achieved brilliantly.
“Since 2006 we have doubled our market share and sales and there has also been a net improvement in our financial position. Today, Ducati isa rock-solid company that has aroused the interest of Europe’s largest car maker with whom we’re now ready to begin a new and equally exciting adventure.
“The hard work done by everyone at Ducati has paid off and the results confirm the soundness of the strategies implemented from 2006-2011.Thanks to policies focussed on product development, ever-higher investment levels, careful marketing aimed at making the Ducati brand ever-more admired and respected worldwide and the development of emerging markets, Ducati saw revenues grow from €305 million in 2006 to €480 million in 2011 while EBITDA rose from €27 million in 2006 to €94 million in 2011. The number of employees has also increased, from 1043 in 2006 to 1193, the number working at Ducati today.
“Over these years we have developed the most exciting and innovative product range in our long history, launching no less than 17 new models. These include the Multistrada 1200 in 2010, the Diavel in 2011 and the most recent, the 1199 Panigale. These successes contributed enormously to the increase in sales, which rose significantly from 35,300 bikes in 2006 to 42,200 at the end of 2011.
“Despite the shrinking international market (over-500cc = -4% YTD) and after 2011 proved to be the best in Ducati’s history, we understandably felt optimistic going into 2012, which promises equally significant levels of satisfaction and achievement. In fact, during May 2012 we achieved an absolute record with motorcycle sales of over 6,500, a 12% growth compared to May 2011. In the US market, sales increased 48% and on Asian markets a staggering 238%. Positive signs have also been seen in Europe, where in France, for example, sales increased by 13%. Altogether, Ducati saw sales increase by 12% but, even more significantly, revenues increased by 20% (May YTD), highlighting both the increased volumes and theimproved product mix. These are achievements that we want to share with ourcommunity, with our public, with the Ducatisti who have come here to Misanofrom all over the world for the seventh edition of World Ducati Week.
“Sadly, we will all be aware of the devastation caused by the recent earthquake on the Po Valley plain north of Bologna and its impact interms of extensive material damage and loss of life. The people, institutions and businesses of Emilia are fighting back bravely, demonstrating admirable strength of spirit and social solidarity. Nevertheless, despite everyone’s best efforts, some slowing of outputwill be inevitable. Yet thanks also to results such as these, we can look to the future with the strength and optimism that are vital to achieving even greater growth.”
Rumor - Ducati 848 Hypermotard
A liquid cooled engine with upwards of 140HP if you consider the current 848 EVO design. Dry weight of the EVO is 370lbs so the combination of a light weight hypermotard bike and horsepower numbers close to the top of the line 848 and there's no doubt Ducati will have a hot seller.

Audi Group acquires Ducati Motor Holding
AUDI AG acquires sports motorcycle manufacturer Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A.
- Chairman Rupert Stadler: “As a sporty, global premium brand, Ducati is an excellent fit for Audi.”
- Third pillar for AUDI AG in Italy
- Ducati a leading player in engine technology and lightweight construction
Ingolstadt/Bologna, April 18, 2012 – AUDI AG is acquiring from Investindustrial Group the tradition-steeped Italian sports motorcycle manufacturer Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A., which has its registered office in Bologna. The transaction will be completed as quickly as possible once authorized by the competition authorities. The Supervisory Boards of AUDI AG and Volkswagen AG approved the acquisition today in Hamburg. Ducati is known worldwide as a leading brand in motorcycle manufacture, with outstanding expertise in engine development and lightweight construction.
Alongside the traditional Italian brands Lamborghini and Italdesign, Ducati is now a third pillar for AUDI AG in Northern Italy. Another building block in the Company’s growth strategy thus falls into place. Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, declared: “Ducati is known worldwide as a premium brand among motorcycle manufacturers and has a long tradition of building sporty motorcycles. It has great expertise in high-performance engines and lightweight construction, and is one of the world’s most profitable motorcycle manufacturers. That makes Ducati an excellent fit for Audi.” The progressive control systems and special combustion chamber process of Ducati engines, their resulting sporty character, and Ducati’s extensive know-how in lightweight construction thus offer great potential for AUDI AG and the Volkswagen Group.
Peter Mosch, Chairman of the General Works Council of AUDI AG, explains that the employee representatives of AUDI AG support the Company’s sustainable, co- determined growth strategy. “We must use the opportunities offered by globalization for Audi – and that’s exactly what we’re doing. Everyone at Audi is looking forward to working with our new colleagues from Ducati,” commented Mosch.
Ducati is a globally active company and has manufacturing operations at its headquarters in Bologna and at its own factory in Thailand. It maintains a series of importer companies in strategic markets. Experts predict that the motorcycle market will enjoy strong growth over the next few years, especially in Asia. In 2011, Ducati sold around 42,000 motorcycles and generated revenue of some €480 million, employing around 1,100 people.
The company was founded by Adriano and Marcello Ducati in Bologna in 1926. Known originally as Società Scientifica Radiobrevetti Ducati, it initially built parts for radios. It ventured into the manufacture of motorcycles in 1949.
Ducati has been actively involved in motorcycle racing for many decades through its racing division Ducati Corse. Its racing activities are currently focused on the Ducati official factory team in the MotoGP class of the Motorcycle World Championship and in the Superbike World Championship, supporting competitive private teams. Ducati won the manufacturers’ championship in this latter class 17 times in 21 championships and the pilots’ 14 times.
Ducati North America reports seven consecutive quarters of retail growth
Ducati North America announced today its seventh consecutive quarter of sales growth, beginning 2012 with a 10.2% Q1 retail sales increase. Significant growth in all of its territories (USA, Canada and Mexico) continues to position North America as Ducati’s largest global market.
The Ducati line of apparel and accessories also recorded significant growth with over a 98% Q1 increase.
“It’s exciting to report this level of sustained retail sales growth, continuing the momentum of our record year in 2011,” said Cristiano Silei, Chief Executive Officer of Ducati North America. ”We expect this growth to gain even more strength throughout the year, thanks to the imminent introduction of new products across several of Ducati’s motorcycle categories.”
Ducati’s growth is expected to continue thanks to an expanding product line-up, including two highly-anticipated models that are shortly becoming available for customer deliveries: the new Streetfighter 848, synonymous with control, precision and pure fun, and the category-defining Superbike, the 1199 Panigale. Both models will be arriving at dealerships during the month of April.
The latest addition to the Diavel lineup, the powerful Diavel Cromo, will also be arriving to Ducati dealerships in the coming weeks. The Diavel family of motorcycles continues to transcend traditional motorcycle categories, as well as attract new customers through Ducati’s engaging test ride programs. With a worldwide unveiling held in New York City on March 15th, Ducati has introduced a new member to the iconic Monster family: the new Monster Diesel. As a result of a collaborative effort with Diesel clothing, the new military-inspired design transforms the flagship Monster 1100 EVO, inviting a new perspective to the Monster legacy, reminding Ducatisti of the beauty and power behind Ducati’s heritage.
“We are enthusiastic that 2012 has begun with growth across all categories," said Dominique Cheraki, General Manager of Ducati North America. “However, Ducati and our dealers will not rest on this success. Our commitment is to fuel Ducati’s growth in North America with continuous introduction of new, significant products to market, and by improving consumer’s accessibility to our brand with further expansion and investment in our dealer network.”

Ducati receives prestigious German awards
Readers of the prestigious German magazine, Motorrad, one of the highest selling magazines in Europe, have awarded Ducati "Best Motorcycle of 2012" in three different categories.
Ducati was the most successful manufacturer at the award ceremony, winning three of the eight main categories, with the brand new and revolutionary Ducati 1199 Panigale stealing the coveted prize for "Best Sport Motorcycle" with 41.2% of the vote, 20% more than runner-up, BMW for the S1000RR.
Underlining its innovative entry to the highly competitive category, the new Ducati Diavel Cromo claimed the "Best Naked Motorcycle" award with 9.7% of the vote ahead of the Triumph Speed Triple, while the Ducati Multistrada 1200 S Touring won the "Best All-rounder" award with an impressive 23.9% of the vote, 10% ahead of the BMW K1300S.
The voting of Motorrad's readers not only revealed Ducati to be the "Best Sport Motorcycle Manufacturer 2012" with 77% of the vote just ahead of Aprilia and MV Agusta, but also recognised Ducati as "best in style and design" under the title of "Good Look 2012". These recognitions combined to establish Ducati as "Preferred Manufacturer 2012", with 52% of the voting ahead of BMW and Triumph.
In addition to the three prestigious awards and numerous recognitions, the Hypermotard 1100 EVO SP also made a significant mark in voting, taking second position in the "Best Enduro/Supermoto" award, as runner-up to the BMW 1200R GS Adventure.
"Ducati deserve these awards in every sense," said Michael Pfeiffer, Director of the Motorrad publication. "This Italian motorcycle manufacturer has pushed hard in the market and introduced innovative and interesting motorcycles. As well as repeating their success of last year with the Multistrada 1200, they have achieved an additional two valuable awards for the Diavel Cromo and new 1199 Panigale. A fantastic result with voting percentages of significant importantance. Well done!"
"We feel very proud to receive this series of impressive awards and recognitions and our thanks go to Motorrad and the readers who voted for these awards," said Gabriele Del Torchio, President of Ducati Motor Holding. "This is an important result for our company and reward for everyone who has worked so hard on the quality and innovation of our motorcycles. It is a result also confirmed by our growth in Germany, a demanding market in which high quality is essential for success and confirmation of our great work in these recent years."

I liked it so much I bought the company - Ducati?
Ducati is pretty hot right now with sales up substantially and a roster of enviable bikes. Could it be that the private investors see NOW as the time to do some profit taking on all that success? Buy low and sell high is the name of the game in investing and this would be a great time to cash in the success of Ducati.
“Ducati is now a perfect company but the further growth it requires needs the support of a world-class industrial partner,” Bonomi told The Financial Times. “This year, we will work towards that partner.”
In 2008, Investindustrial bought out Ducati’s other owners with the help of BS Investimenti and Hospitals of Ontario Pension Plan (HOPP). According to The Financial Times, Investindustrial stands to make a billion euros (US$1.3 billion) by selling Ducati, or about three times the firm’s initial investment into the Bolognese company.

Unfortunately there's no horsepower numbers to accompany it. That information won't likely come out until the bikes launch in February. For now though it's enough just to hear the Panigale at full throttle.
It sounds pretty impressive to say the least and damn it's a fine looking bike too!

Mr. Schilling, with great enthusiasm, said, “After all these years, there is an exciting energy surrounding Ducati motorcycles that comes from a growing enthusiasm and devotion to the brand. I am happy to have played a small part in Ducati’s history, and to help bring its excellent and innovative engineering tradition to enthusiasts in the United States. 2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale “Superquadro” power house
Ducati’s latest engine, the Superquadro, goes beyond the barriers of engineering to enable the introduction of a futuristic Superbike today. Its no-compromise approach to design, combined with Ducati’s Italian innovation has now set the most extreme benchmark ever and stands as the latest milestone in Ducati’s long and iconic history of Superbike engines.
Ducati engineers were given a near impossible design brief to create the new generation Superbike engine for the Ducati 1199 Panigale. Increase power, torque and user-friendliness and reduce overall vehicle weight and scheduled maintenance costs seemed impossible tasks, but given a “blank canvas” to create the new power-plant and encouraged to think outside-of-the-box to achieve the unachievable, engineers have finally hit the mark.

Meanwhile, in the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup, talented 22-year-old Italian rider, Davide Giugliano, rode to an safe 5th to clinch his title. The promising rider took his Team Althea Racing Ducati 1198 to a total of 4 race wins in 2011, fighting a close race to the title with today's race winner, Danilo Petrucci, also competing onboard a Ducati 1198. Ducati's victory in the highly competitive category further highlights the Italian manufacturer's no-compromise approach to its road-going Superbike models and underlines the value of the torque-rich L-Twin configuration that Ducati have remained loyal to.
Having written his name into the history of World Superbike, Checa also reconfirms the competiveness of the L-Twin Ducati 1198 by taking the model to World Superbike title number 2. The victory enables the Borgo Panigale-based factory in Bologna to celebrate their 17th Manufacturers' title, underlining the continued passion they have for the production-based World Superbike series.
Starting Sunday's race from the front of the grid, Carlos Checa needed only to extend his championship lead by 3 points to mathematically secure the title, but soon controlled the race from the front, took the win by 2.2 seconds and won his World Championship in style. With the pressure off for Race 2, Checa maintained his cool, staying with leaders in the early part of the race before stretching a 1.2 second lead and winning the double.
"I'm so happy to win my first world title and so happy that I did it aboard a Ducati," said Carlos Checa as the newly crowned 2011 World Superbike Champion. "My sincere thanks go to Team Althea Racing and everyone at Ducati who has worked hard to help me get these results. Together we've done a great job this year, immediately starting the season well against fast riders on very competitive bikes. From mid-season we started to think about the title, but when the pressure increased we never lost our concentration and now we're here. It's a great feeling! We're still looking forward, though, and now we're concentrating on a big finish to the season at the final race in Portimao."
President and CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, Gabriele Del Torchio, said: "I am very happy for the Riders' title and extremely proud of the Manufacturers' title. This significant achievement has now proved for the 17th time, Ducati's supremacy in the production-based series and confirmed the success of the 1198, not only on the track, but also commercially and as an example of our Italian design and creativity. Carlos has been fantastic. He is an exceptional rider, always professional and always a true "Ducatista" by displaying the same determination and spirit as our company and our motorcycles. Thanks again Carlos and particular thanks to everyone at Team Althea Racing and Ducati Corse and all the staff at Ducati who have contributed to this fantastic result. Winning the Riders' and Manufacturers' titles also in Superstock today have truly made this a fantastic Sunday and a memorable event that is very important for our company and our twin-cylinder heritage."
"A big thank you to Carlos who sincerely deserves this victory, both as a rider and as a person," said Filippo Preziosi, Ducati Corse General Director. "A big thanks also to Team Althea principle, Genesio Bevilaqua, for the passion with which he entered this adventure with us, for believing in Carlos and believing in Ducati. Thanks also to everyone in Ducati Corse working on the Superbike project, Ernesto Marinelli, Marco Lozej and the whole development team for the professionalism and passion needed to win this new world title. Our achievements today are even more enhanced by the victories also in Superstock, making this a day that will live forever in our list of achievements and one that we'll always remember."

New Ducati 848 Streetfighter
Better buy some track days if you're getting this bike because it's going to hard to keep this bike under the speed limits on the road. Not sure how this styling is going to hold up long term but it definitely could be described as minimalist and angular. Looks a little like an insect to me. A very angry insect!
Ducati confirms their 2012 Streetfighter 848 with the first officially released images of the brand new model set to add everyday accessibility to the Italian manufacturer’s famous naked sport bike family.
Combining a new and brilliantly engineered 848 Testastretta 11° engine with the enhanced geometry of a chassis that provides confidence-inspiring agility, the Streetfighter 848 has enriched its user-friendliness with a smooth and flexible power delivery, revised ergonomics and Ducati Traction Control.
The Ducati Streetfighter scored a round one knock-out when it entered the ring for the first time at the Milan show back in November 2008, winning the ‘Most Beautiful Bike’ award and raising the bar for extreme naked bikes. Its asphalt-ripping reputation became the desire of sport naked connoisseurs throughout the world and the Streetfighter 848 will now widen that appeal even further with enhanced usability.
Available in North America from January 2012 onwards, the new fighter is dressed in red for Ducati traditionalists, while yellow makes a return for mid-range purists and “dark stealth” provides a matte-black reminder of the Streetfighter’s aggressive image.
Ducati Diavel AMG Special Edition to be shown at Frankfurt Motor Show
Based upon the Diavel Carbon, the Diavel AMG Special Edition features AMG’s signature 5-spoke wheel styling, carbon fibre lateral radiator grills with aluminium trim, AMG-style sport exhaust system with engraved end-caps and AMG-style horizontally ribbed seat upholstered in Alcantara®. The model’s incredible attention to performance detail also ensures that every engine has its Desmodromic cam-timing set by hand and authenticated with the name of the engine technician engraved on the left-side engine casing. Further underlining the model’s exclusivity, each motorcycle will have a numbered plaque on the fuel tank.
Ducati IPO in the works?
If the IPO were to happen, it's said that early 2012 would be the target time frame.
It won't be Ducati's first experiment as a publically offered company - Ducati was a public company in 1999 but it ended up being short lived. Investindustrial bought out previous owner in 2006. A return to profitability of Ducati in 2008 seemed closely timed with a return to Italian ownership.
Ducati has been on a bit of a positive trend the past few years - will taking the company public see a continuation or acceleration of that upward trend?

Ducati reports outstanding results and exceptional growth for the first half of 2011
2011 sales have been exceptional in the US, Canadian and Mexican markets; with total North American growth surpassing the 60% mark in the first half of the year. Over 5200 bikes were registered in the first two quarters, and Ducati plans to continue posting strong sales figures as the year continues.
This year’s sales growth has been realized across the entire model lineup, with several particular models proving to be an outstanding success. The game-changing Multistrada 1200 continues its strong sales momentum, soon to be joined by the new Multistrada 1200 S Pikes Peak Special Edition. The newly-released Diavel has also proven a strong seller, joining the 848EVO Superbike and Monster 796 as top sellers in Ducati’s lineup.
‘We are very satisfied with our half year results, which are an exceptional growth over 2010,” said Cristiano Silei, CEO of Ducati North America. “We are extremely excited about our potential for the rest of 2011 with the Monster 1100EVO joining our formidable product line-up as summer hits full swing. In light of this continued success we will be strengthening our organization for the 2012 model year.”

Ducati takes off with new shop at Fiumicino Airport, Rome
Ducati passion is cleared for take-off at Terminal 3 of Fiumicino airport, Rome as the latest Ducati shop officially opens its doors to the travelling public. As an addition to the existing shop at Bologna airport, the new opening marks the beginning of a partnership between Ducati and airport retail specialist Meridian Duty Free. It also represents a key step in Ducati’s sales strategy as this latest opening is the “pilot project” for a new retail program that both companies aim to extend to other European and non-European airports.
"I’ve always seen Ducati as an expression of creativity, innovation and technology,” said Marco Passoni, CEO of Meridian Duty Free. “Without doubt, it is a prime example of classic Italian excellence. I’m proud and excited to have combined the huge potential of the Ducati brand with our own experience in this sector’s new airport format and I’m convinced that the opening of this first shop at Fiumicino’s International Leonardo da Vinci airport is just the first chapter of another long Ducati success story."
“The decision to open an airport retail format stems from the growing interest in the Ducati brand and the entire product range associated with it,” said Lucio Attina, Director of Ducati Apparel & Brand Development. “For years, Ducati has been a committed global ambassador of the “made in Italy” concept of premium quality and so the decision to open this first shop in Italy’s capital was inevitable. We feel sure this opening will be followed by many others, enabling us to offer the fast-growing community of Ducati fans and enthusiasts the chance to purchase apparel and other products. To ensure our customers enjoy a unique experience we’ve put our trust in a truly professional travel retail specialist, Meridian Duty Free.”
The official opening was attended by representatives of Ducati and Meridian Duty Free as well as Aviation Manager, Elio Pistola, and Sales Manager, Dr. Marco Treggiari of Aeroporti Di Roma in addition to official representatives of Customs and Police.
This latest shop will be an outlet for products from the Ducati apparel collection and also those of numerous partners, such as Oakley and Puma, whose brands are already associated with the Italian motorcycle manufacturer. In celebration of the shop’s opening, Ducati fans were treated to an appearance of Valentino Rossi’s Desmosedici GP11 MotoGP bike, a display that attracted huge crowds of curious airport visitors.

Ducati's in the movies
What movies prominently feature Ducati motorcycles?
The Matrix Reloaded - Trinity rides a Ducati 996 through heavy traffic to evade some nasty ghost twins.
Yes Man - Jim Carrey used a Ducati Hypermotard
Cat Woman - Okay, so not many people saw this one but Halle Barry rides a Ducati Monster in it.
Terminator Salvation - Ducati Hypermotards were used as inspiration for the Moto-Terminators
I'm sure there's more - that's just a few I can think of. Maybe you can think of some other movies featuring Ducati's?

Ducati unveils the Multistrada 1200 S Pikes Peak Special Edition
Winning the highly challenging and multi-surface Pikes Peak race- that climbs a mountain track through 4,300 feet of altitude change- further underlines the exceptional all-terrain versatility of the Ducati Multistrada. The race demonstrated how its four different riding modes can immediately adapt the motorcycle to any environment. The Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro riding modes are selected by the simple click of a button; instantly transforming the Multistrada’s suspension, power output and traction control settings electronically- a feature that Greg Tracy will use again in 2011.
In conjunction with the launch of this striking new model, Ducati is excited to announce its entry in the 2011 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, featuring last year’s winning line up of Greg Tracy and Alexander Smith. Preparations have already begun for the defense of the title, and Ducati will be fighting for top time up the mountain come June. In addition to racing the event, Ducati will be organizing a Multistrada owner tour to the race; dubbed “All Roads Lead To Pikes Peak.” The event will be the first official Multistrada owner’s gathering, and details will be on the www.ducatiusa.com website shortly.
The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, or “Race to the Clouds”, is situated in a range of the Rocky Mountains, 10 miles west of Colorado Springs and races 12.42 miles from a start line altitude of 9,390 feet to a finish line at 14,110 feet. First held in 1916, the event is now on the international calendar of the FIA in addition to holding seven motorcycle categories from 250-1200cc.
The early arrival model year 2012 Multistrada 1200 S Pikes Peak Special Edition will be available from June 2011 onwards, with an MSRP of $22,995CDN.

Ducati Official Art presents "Desmo" a photographic art collection by Elizabeth Raab
It's not entirely safe for work (hey, it's Art!) but do check out the links within this post.
An exploration of the aesthetical relationship between the female body and the mechanical body of iconic Ducati bikes.
Perfect organisms which become the extension of one another. A fine art edition available exclusively on: www.ducatiart.com.
About the collection
The “Desmo” collection presents sixteen unique photographs in which the artist has approached and juxtaposed the abstract qualities of the organic and mechanical forms, highlighting both the complexity in design and the emotion of iconic Ducati motorcycles.
The shots explore the multiple relationships between the designed and the natural.
The lines of the mechanical body reflecting the lines of the organic form it was designed after. The unique color palette of the motorcycle extends from the framework to the features of the model. The model is in an extension of the bike herself.
About the artist
Her work has been featured in exhibitions and many areas of publication in the US and Italy. Features include a range from the Seattle Art Museum, published works of David Lynch, to Joseph Kosuth’s “Perloined.”
She has recently been most noted for her work in conjunction with Ducati motorcycles and now resides in Brooklyn, New York with her husband and their two children.
The artworks from the “Desmo” Collection are reproduced exclusively in numbered editions. Each artwork is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and limited edition, guaranteeing its collector value.

Ducati recall - Multistrada 1200
On certain motorcycles, the engine could stall while downshifting or maneuvering with the clutch disengaged and the engine at idle. Lost propulsion (engine stalling), in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and rider's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury.

Ducati and AMG team up for high performance partnership
"We are especially proud to have AMG as one of our sponsors for the Ducati MotoGP Team. I am also very pleased that our joint marketing activities are well under way. In AMG we have found a partner who perfectly reflects our brand values of high performance, motorsport, excitement and our sense of unmistakable style and design," said Gabriele del Torchio, President and CEO of Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A
"I am very pleased that we are able to announce our strategic cooperation with Ducati today. AMG and Ducati ideally complement each other, as both companies share the same values: racing as the driving passion, and high performance plus exclusivity as the central brand messages of both AMG and Ducati. This long-term cooperation will help us to jointly access new customer groups," said Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
The first visible results of the cooperation between Ducati and AMG will be joint marketing and sponsoring activities. AMG will support the Ducati MotoGP Team as the Official Car Partner from 2011, for example. During selected AMG events, participants will be able to test ride Ducati motorcycles, and Ducati customers will similarly have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the latest AMG high-performance cars at events
Joint events are planned for the members of the AMG Private Lounge, in which more than 13,000 AMG customers worldwide are registered. The partners are currently examining the further activities and strategic steps they might undertake together in the near future.
Ducati and AMG: racing, high performance, exclusivity
Founded in 1926, Ducati has been producing sport-inspired motorcycles since 1946. Their motorcycles are characterised by “Desmodromic” performance engines, innovative design and avant-garde technology. Covering several market segments, Ducati's range of motorcycles are divided into model families which include: Desmosedici RR, Hypermotard, Monster, Multistrada, Streetfighter, Superbike and the brand new Diavel. These authentic icons of “made in Italy” are sold in over 80 countries around the world, with concentration on the European, North-American and Japanese markets. Ducati is currently involved in both the World Superbike Championship and, with an official team, the World MotoGP Championship. In Superbike Ducati has won 16 of the last 20 Manufacturers' titles as well as 13 Riders' titles. Ducati have participated in MotoGP since 2003, and took both the Manufacturers' and Riders' titles in 2007.
AMG was founded in 1967, and is seen as a pioneer in motorsports and performance enhancement. In the following years AMG developed from a two-man operation to a company of worldwide renown. Numerous racing victories, technological tours de force born of the racetrack, unique high-performance cars and an unmistakable brand experience such as e.g. the AMG Driving Academy have come together to form a decidedly exclusive brand image. Founded in 1999, Mercedes-AMG GmbH is an autonomous vehicle manufacturer. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler AG, AMG is responsible for all development processes relating to the chassis, engine, suspension, brakes, electronics, aerodynamics, interior and design, right up to final approval of the complete AMG car. Mercedes-AMG GmbH also manages all marketing and sales related aspects in its own right.

Ducati 1198 SP:
Double podium for Haga at Imola today
A great day for Ducati that dominated Race 1, with Noriyuki accompanied on the podium by a faultless Carlos Checa and a “reborn” Lorenzo Lanzi, before securing the top two spots in Race 2 with Checa, who scores his first double win with his 1198, and a competitive and determined Haga.
Race 1: Noriyuki made up a lot of ground off the line, in ninth after the first lap. A drop in the performance of some of the frontrunners, in the second half of the race, allowed the Japanese rider to catch first Tom Sykes and then Jakub Smrz, putting him fourth. On the final lap Noriyuki moved into third position and secured a podium spot when Leon Haslam ran off track while trying to get past Checa. Michel Fabrizio, having lost a couple of positions at the start, had difficulty with the rear of the bike, that moved around excessively. He continued to make progress throughout the 21-lap race however, to close in seventh position.
Race 2: on a warmer track, Noriyuki was again able to make rapid progress, making up eleven places in nine laps. The Japanese rider never gave up, passing Max BIaggi, Tom Sykes before going after Carlos Checa who had already built up a significant advantage. Haga did all he could but the Spanish rider only increased his pace, to take his first double win on board the 1198. Michel, having made a better start than in Race 1, did well in the initial stages and was fifth by the seventh lap. The smoke generated when Leon Haslam suffered a technical problem just in front of Michel, caused the latter to run off track and lose three positions. Although the Roman rider quickly made those places back up, he unfortunately found neutral through the Acque Minerali which caused him to run wide and lose the front, putting an end to his race.
The points gained by Ducati today project the Borgo-Panigale based manufacturer into second position in the manufacturers championship. Noriyuki remains sixth in the riders classification, one point behind Cal Crutchlow, while Michel Fabrizio goes up to ninth.
Noriyuki Haga (Race 1 – 3rd , Race 2 – 2nd)
“It wasn’t easy and I’m really happy to have reached the podium twice, even if I couldn’t win today. At this track the first corner is particularly narrow and that can make the first lap pretty dangerous but I got through it and made up some positions there, and then found a good rhythm in both races which meant I could start to catch up, finally reaching third, and then second. Of course it would have been even better to win but I would have needed a few more laps in order to do that. My congratulations go to Carlos, Lorenzo and Cal as they all rode extremely well, especially Carlos. A Ducati 1,2,3 and then a 1,2 ¬- I'd say we can all be happy with that.”
Michel Fabrizio (Race 1 – 7th , Race 2 - DNF)
“Of course I wanted to do better on Ducati’s home track. In race 1 I was able to make up some places but the feeling I had with the bike got gradually worse and I didn’t have the necessary pace in the second half of the race. In race 2 I was confident and had good feeling but when Haslam had that problem, I also ran off track, losing ground. An error on the 14th lap caused me to crash and unfortunately I was unable to get back on.”
RESULTS: Race 1 – 1. Checa (Ducati); 2. Lanzi (Ducati); 3. Haga (Ducati Xerox). Race 2 - 1. Checa (Ducati); 2. Haga (Ducati Xerox); 3. Crutchlow (Yamaha)
CLASSIFICATION: Riders – 1. Biaggi (Aprilia) 413; 2. Haslam (Suzuki) 350; 3. Rea (Honda) 288; 4. Checa (Ducati) 274; 5. Crutchlow (Yamaha) 239; 6. Haga (Ducati Xerox) 238; 7. Toseland (Yamaha) 187; 8. Guintoli (Suzuki) 184; 9. Fabrizio (Ducati Xerox) 169; 10. Corser (BMW) 165

Ducati Xerox team return to the racetrack this weekend in Germany
The Nürburgring (Germany), Tuesday 31st August: after a month’s break, the World Superbikes are ready to restart their engines and return to the racetrack; the next stop for the Ducati Xerox Team is Germany, and the historic Nürburgring.
Noriyuki celebrated podium success last season in Race 1 at the Ring but it was the previous year, 2008, that brought the most satisfaction, with a double win for the Japanese rider at the German track, in spite of his riding with a broken collarbone! Michel on the other hand is yet to step up to the Ring’s rostrum, his best result thus far a sixth place finish in 2008. Having returned to the SBK calendar in 2008, after an eight year break, the circuit has been characterised by some very unpredictable weather conditions that have delayed and cut short races in the last two seasons. The historic Ring, located in the heart of Germany’s Black Forest, has played host to motorsport events for more than eighty years; this will be the fifth time that the World Superbike circus visits the track.
As the 2010 edition of the championship charges rapidly towards the home straight, with only two rounds left to run after the coming weekend’s German round, Nitro-Nori lies in 7th position while Uragano Mich is 9th in the overall standings. Ducati holds third position in the constructors championship.
Noriyuki Haga (7th in championship, 177 points)
"I had a great time here in 2008, taking a double win despite some terrible conditions that messed up the smooth running of race day, but then last season didn’t go to plan as I started in pole but crashed out of race 2 in a race I was sure I could have won. The problem at the Nürburgring is that no-one can predict the conditions – we’ve seen the sun come out just minutes after a hail shower so mixed conditions like those make it hard to prepare for race day.”
Haga’s Superbike form at the Nürburgring:
2009: Race 1 – 2nd, Race 2 – DNF
2008: Race 1 – winner, Race 2 – winner
1999: Race 1 – DNF, Race 2 – 6th
1998: Race 1 – 5th, Race 2 – 7th
Michel Fabrizio (9th in championship, 160 points)
“I was disappointed to miss out on the podium at Silverstone so I’ll be trying my best to get there at the Nurburgring. I really like the track but haven’t managed to reach the podium before. The weather is so mixed of course and that can really mess up a weekend if conditions change dramatically each day. Anyway, we’ll be looking to take as many points as possible, and I’ll have my eyes on a top three finish.”
Fabrizio’s Superbike form at the Nürburgring:
2009: Race 1 – 7th, Race 2 – 9th
2008: Race 1 – 7th, Race 2 – 6th
Name: The Nürburgring
Circuit length: 5.137 km
Pole position: left
Curve a sinistra: 6
Curve a destra: 11

Rossi to ride a Ducati
No doubt Yamaha isn't overly joyed to see him leave the Yamaha tent because even if he isn't winning he's one of the biggest names in MotoGP and brings a ton of attention to the brand that he's riding.
Ducati on the other hand is beaming with the news that they've got Rossi lined up for next year.
"We are delighted that Valentino Rossi will be with us from 2011. He is a paragon of excellence in the world of motorcycling," Ducati Motor Holding president Gabriele Del Torchio said in a statement.

Ducati Comments on Haden Rumors
We would like to say that the recent news which has appeared on the US website Cycle World and other websites has been misreported and must be attributed to the many rumors circulating lately.
Whether and when an agreement is reached, official press releases will be issued.

Purists will argue that it's a departure from the core beliefs of Ducati which is focused on building performance motorcycles. Anything with a 240 profile rear tire isn't a performance bike - right. If you want to be successful and gain market share sometimes you need to give people what they want, not force what you think they want upon them. Drawing similarities in the automotive world, look at Porsche and their Cayenne SUV. People say it goes against everything "Porsche" stands for. It's Porsche's biggest seller now and they make lots of money selling it. Money that can be put back into R&D and building faster and better cars. Something I'm sure Porsche sportscar fans do like.
I'm not necessarily going to buy a muscle bike from Ducati but if they build it, I hope they sell a ton of them and it helps finance bikes that I am interested in buying. I don't see it as a negative. I see it as a big positive!
I found what is reportedly a statement by Ducati which seems to suggest that something big is on the way from Ducati.
Ducati's statement reads:
As many you may have noticed, there has been quite a bit of activity in the past few weeks surrounding a supposed new Ducati model. I wanted to take this opportunity and send you a note saying indeed we do have a surprise in store for this year's EICMA show. Our R&D department is working around the clock to complete development of this radical new motorcycle, for which time to complete final design and engineering elements will surely come down to the wire.
I'm sending this letter today in order to inform you of our communication plan. Since many details of the bike (big and small) are still being sorted out; I have elected not to forward information or photography until the rolling prototypes come close to resembling what the final product will look like.
Stay tuned for further information from the Ducati Press Department; and I can assure you the final bike will impress all with the design, performance and technology everyone has come to expect from Ducati.
