Motus sets Land Speed Record

Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah- Motus Factory Racing set the two fastest land speed records of any American production motorcycle at the AMA-sanctioned 2014 Bonneville Speed Trials. Competing in P-PP and P-PG classes, the new records also establish the stock Motus MSTR as the fastest production pushrod motorcycle in the world.

The Motus MSTR motorcycles were raced in stock, unmodified condition with just the mirrors, turn signals and license plates removed. With top speeds of 168.69 mph and records of 163.98 mph and 165.81 mph respectively, company founders Brian Case and Lee Conn set the records before re-attaching the mirrors and license plates and riding 1900 miles back to the Motus factory in Alabama...in 30 hours.

Now in its 100th year as a proving grounds for the world's fastest vehicles, the Bonneville Salt Flats' high friction surface and 4200 ft. altitude reduced potential top speeds by 20-30 mph from speeds on pavement at sea level. The records average two consecutive runs ("down" and "return") that must take place the same day.

Motus relocates and secures financing

American motorcycle maker; Motus have relocated into the original location of the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum and factory tours will be starting in early 2013.

They've also been approved for FreedomRoad consumer finance and GE Capital floorplan. What does that mean for potential purchasers? The partnership with FreedomRoad Financial means that Motus will be able to offer customers zero down, low rates, and up to 84 months financing on 2013 Motus motorcycles. The GE Capital Floorplan announcement means that GE Capital’s Commercial Distribution Finance has agreed to provide Motus with inventory financing to support the expansion of its dealer network in the U.S. This type of arrangement, also known as floorplan financing, will assist dealers in stocking, marketing and selling our motorcycles and related products.

Both are steps in the right direction for Motus. No word on Canadian availability yet. No time soon I imagine.

Motus Motorcycle - pricing announced

Motus Motorcycles, a US based start-up motorcycle manufacturer, has announced pricing and dealerships for their two 1650 CC V-four engine based models. The engine appears to be a real gem and sounds heavenly. The bikes themselves are getting good first reviews by those lucky enough to get a chance to ride one. The engine was at least partly designed and manufactured by Katech - the same folks who designed the 505 HP Corvette Z06 engine. It's almost like a half a Corvette engine!

We've mentioned the Motus Motorcycle brand to you several times before.

The MST and MST-R are a small production bikes and it therefore come with a premium price. The MST comes in a $30,975 USD and the higher-spec MST-R at $36,975 USD. Hopefully they'll sell a few of them and can bring that price down. Even if they do - expect it to continue to be a premium price.

Both bikes are well-equipped. The MST gets a fully adjustable Öhlins front fork and Progressive Suspension rear shock, Brembo brake calipers, Givi side cases, a Sargent seat, centerstand, 720-watt alternator and the 1650cc liquid-cooled pushrod V-Four rated at 165 horsepower and 122 foot-pounds of torque. The MST-R adds race-quality Öhlins components front and back, forged monobloc Brembo calipers, forged OZ wheels and an upgraded powerplant that makes 185 hp.

Motus - Not Your Typical American Motorcycle

"When you ride the Motus - you get the feeling that it was designed by people who ride themselves."

Alan Cathcart - Syndicated Motorcycle Journalist

Haven't seen much from Motus the past few months but here's a interview from a test rider and some video of riding. Wheelie alert! It's a great looking and sounding bike. Oh the sound! V4 heaven for these ears.

Hopefully it'll be on the roads soon!

Motus on a closed course - Sounds phenomonal!

Interesting YouTube clip of some Motus MST prototypes on a closed course test at Barber Motorsports Park on April 12, 2011.

He gets awfully close to scraping the hard cases on this one.  Man, that small block-based V4 engine sounds BAD ASS!

The bike looks great and the riders report that the bike feels great and nimble despite the 1,654cc size. Maybe Motus will become the next big US motorcycle manufacturer?
