Plug and Play Screaming Banshee Horn

The guys at Screaming Banshee have been working on a new horn; one that's smaller and easier to install. They're trying to launch it via a crowd-sourcing project like they did for the first iteration. That first one was a success and they're on their way to making this new horn a success too. Check out the details below:

Many of you have emailed us with great stories and even videos of your Banshee’s in action - thank you for all the great feedback!

Commonly, however, many of you have asked us to create a system that’s smaller, simpler and easier to install while still being just as loud.

We’ve listened to this, and in response we have developed an exciting new product that we are calling the “Plug and Play Screamer”.

We’ve recently completed the final design and the Plug & Play Screamer is now ready to go to market.

In order to help us get this project off the ground, we’ve decided to launch the idea on a crowd sourcing platform called Indiegogo. With the funds received from this project we will be able to start a large scale production run of the Plug and Play Screamer.

Screaming Banshee Warning System (UPDATE)

We've shown you the video and introduced you to the Screaming Banshee Horn already but we've recently gotten a letter from Peter Olt - CEO at Screaming Banshee LLC with some updates on the company and the product. Here's the letter:

We originally contacted you way back in January about our new Motorcycle Warning System called Screaming Banshee. Thanks again for writing the article on us – we really do appreciate all the great press we have received.

I thought it would be cool to give you an update about how things have progressed; we have now sold about 700 systems and almost all have been fitted to motorcycles and cars in some cases, often across the world. KickStarter was the perfect way to launch this product and has been a fun adventure for all of us. After KickStarter ended we built our own website – if you haven’t seen it here is the link: http://screaming-banshee.com/

The video has been updated too:

We’ve had a lot of great feedback; we have had a few people say that they just didn’t have room to mount the horn, so we responded by developing the “Split Screamer" design, which separates the trumpet from the compressor and gives people the versatility of mounting the 2 parts in different locations to save space. You can see it at. Check it out HERE

We are also releasing a revised control unit that has our own super tuff nylon case complete with oversized mounting lugs and is lower profile than the first model. You may have read that we needed to supply a small adapter to about 7% of bike owners because of some bike’s horn wiring setups – the new control units solves this completely.

By the way – your readers may be interested to know that starting today (5/22/12), we are doing free worldwide shipping for all products as a Father Day special. It runs from today to June 17th, we have good stock of all products, so it’s full speed ahead!

Thanks again for getting behind us from the start! If you have any questions please let us know,

Warm Regards,

Peter
CEO

Banshee Horn warning system for motorcycles

US based inventor Peter Olt has been a motorcyclist for more than 30 years and he's come up with a pretty interesting invention that he refers to as the Banshee Horn.

Basically, the Banshee Horn gives you the option of giving people a blast of a 135 decibel alternating horn and high beam headlights. You can still use your normal horn but holding down the horn button for either 1/4 or 1/2 a second activates the Banshee Horn circuitry.

His invention is posted on KickStarter which is an online invention promotion and funding site. Based on the information there his product is a go! It can still be had at a discounted price for a few more days so watch the video below and if you think it's a good idea better get yourself one fast before the price goes up!

I know there's at least a few times when I wouldn't have minded having the extra conspicuity this horn and lighting combination would provide.

UPDATE: We received an email from Peter (CEO at Banshee horn) to say that the successful KickStarter project has ended but you can now purchase the product via the Banshee Horn website. Keep an eye on the site for updates too:
