Run, bike, and swim - Ontario man completes triathlon to evade police

In an unusual story from Ontario, a man from Gravenhurst sent police on a chase that included a bit of a triathlon for the rider Denis Totten, 30. Brings new meaning to the run, bike, swim event!

On Sept. 22, Totten was riding his 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle and was apparently weaving in his lane a bit so police decided to pull him over and check it out. When the cruiser got close, Totten pulled a U-turn and took off at speeds up to 112 km/h in a 50-km/h zone. Police continued through multiple intersections until the motorcycle pulled onto Pineridge Gate. Totten then jumped from the bike and took off running.

The rider managed to evade the police and a K9 unit was called in to track him down. The K9 lost the scent on the shore of Gull Lake but found a motorcycle helmet and boot there.

Turns out Totten went for a swim across Gull Lake! He then spent the night in the bush. The next morning at 11:16 he appeared at the Bracebridge OPP detachment, scratched up and wearing wet cloths the court was told. He said he hadn't been drinking but just got frightened and took off.

Totten wasn't wanted, wasn’t breaching any probation orders; and in fact, despite multiple checks, police determined Totten has no criminal record at all.

Judge J.D. Evans accepted a joint sentencing submission for a $1,000 fine and a one-year driving ban.

Mysterious Zoltan flat 6 chopper.

What did Adam Sandler say in that movie... "Don't mess with the Zoltan." Don't mess with this Zoltan either - it's packing a huge flat six engine.

We spotted this bike on a little trip to the local hardware store and just had to get a few pictures. It's a bit of a mystery. The bike is in Nova Scotia, Canada and licenced here but the frame says it comes from Cardiff Wales in the UK.

The frame, and tank and many other parts look like they're high quality. Where did this bike come from? Certainly I've never seen one before and a search for "Zoltan Engineering" company doesn't give me too much.

Anyway - here's some pictures for you to check it out for yourself. If you have any information on the bike, or where it came from we'd love to hear from you.

Update (Sept 20th/09) - the consensus of opinion we've gotten so far is that it's a Honda GoldWing 1500cc engine but it's also got a supercharger with intercooler (likely an OEM car part).
