Schuberth Expands S2 Line with Sport Tech Graphic

  • Schuberth has expanded its line of S2 full-face helmets with the new Sport Tech graphic.
  • The first colorway in the S2 Sport Tech line is White/Red, and is now available through Schuberth dealers.

Aliso Viejo, Calif. – June 26, 2014 – Schuberth has expanded the S2 full-face helmet line with the introduction of the racy red/white/black Sport Tech graphic. The S2 Sport Tech in White/Red is now available at participating Schuberth dealers.

The S2 Sport Tech helmet is an ideal choice for riders who want to color-match their riding gear or their motorcycle. This latest graphic joins Lines and Ghost graphics options for the S2, in addition to solid colors.

For over 60 years Schuberth has created and built upon a tradition of head protection innovation, and the light, quiet S2 full face helmet continues that tradition as the world’s first motorcycle helmet to incorporate an internal antenna to enhance reception when using the optional Bluetooth® Schuberth Rider Communication System™ (SRC-System™).

“As a Superbike coach it's important to me that I see everything happening around me. The Schuberth visor so clear, nothing is distorted and there are no ‘bad spots’ at the edges of my peripheral vision. The ventilation is great even in the California high desert, and the micro-lock clasp is quick and easy even with gloves on, which is important to a guy who rides 15 sessions a day on the track.  Overall the Schuberth S2 is a big win!” - Chris McVay, Keith Code California Superbike School Coach

The S2 is a lightweight, ultra-quiet helmet that offers incredible protection thanks to Schuberth’s proprietary S.T.R.O.N.G. fiber construction. This DOT and European ECE compliant helmet features an integrated sun visor, a full-circumference rim spoiler, and a molded back spoiler. The optimized aerodynamics ensure reduced drag and wind noise, even at higher speeds.

  • Equipped with Schuberth’s innovative Air Extraction System for customizable ventilation
  • SRC-System™ ready with internal antenna for enhanced Bluetooth(R) and radio connectivity
  • Schuberth’s S.T.R.O.N.G. fiber construction meets and exceeds DOT and ECE standards
  • MSRP: $699 ($840 CAD)

The S2 full face helmet can be test ridden at California Superbike Schools nationwide and at select Schuberth dealers. For more information on the Schuberth helmet lineup, visit Join the Schuberth community online on Facebook, and follow @SchuberthNA on Twitter. Helmet Manufacturer Schuberth Sets Course for Expansion

Helmet Manufacturer Schuberth Sets Course for Expansion - Announces Changes in Executive Management

Magdeburg, Germany - June 23, 2014
- Three million euro investment in new products, innovative technology and plans for global expansion
- Jan-Christian Becker positioned permanently as CEO
- André-Alexander Steffen positioned as new CFO

After financial investor Perusa took over as principal shareholder in September 2013, the reorganization of the German helmet manufacturer is now clearly taking shape: Jan-Christian Becker has been officially confirmed in his position as Chief Executive Officers (CEO) of the well-established Magdeburg company. He had already been managing the Schuberth Group since September, initially as part of the management team and subsequently, from January 2014, as Interim CEO. During this first phase, Becker succeeded in completing comprehensive restructuring measures. He will henceforth be supported in managing the company by André-Alexander Steffen, who will be responsible for back office activities and purchasing in his capacity of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In collaboration with the shareholder Perusa, Schuberth is now setting out on a course for global expansion. In the current fiscal year 2014 alone, investment funds of three million euros have been made available for this purpose. The intention is to broaden the product portfolio and introduce modern and innovative development processes and manufacturing techniques to equip the Magdeburg headquarters for international competition.
Jan-Christian Becker, the new CEO of the Schuberth Group, looks forward to the coming challenges: “At Schuberth, I have found a highly motivated team, with whom I collaborate in a very goal-oriented manner and, above all, in a congenial spirit. All sections of the company possess outstanding expertise in the helmet market. With investments in new products and modern machines, we are now paving the way for developing Schuberth worldwide into the strong brand that it has been in Germany for decades.”

In the initial 24 to 36-month expansion phase, there are plans for a model upgrade of the existing product portfolio, particularly for motorcycle helmets, while entering new motorcycle segments with totally new products at the same time. In addition, the range of colours and graphics is to be broadened in line with varied customer demands in the different international marketplaces. Investments in innovative development processes and modern manufacturing techniques are intended to further optimise the premium quality as well as the overall volume of Schuberth’s premium products. Initially, the focus will be on developing the markets in Europe and in North America. New distribution channels are also being established in Asia.
Personal Bio: Jan Christian Becker, CEO

Jan-Christian Becker’s academic qualifications comprise a BA in Industrial Engineering (Stuttgart) and an M.Sc. from Aarhus University (Denmark). As a director at the business consultancy Alvarez & Marsal, he gained comprehensive experience in the areas of finance, restructuring and operations. He last worked for Dynasafe Area Clearance Group GmbH and Mine Tech Ltd. in the role of Interim CFO. Mr Becker, who is originally from Westphalia, and his wife intend to move their main place of residence to the Magdeburg area.

Personal Bio: André-Alexander Steffen, CFO

Professionally, André-Alexander Steffen, originally from the Münsterland, started out in tax consultancy/auditing, and he was last running his own business, providing consultancy to SMEs and international corporations. His competences include interim management, process optimisation as well as corporate recovery and restructuring. Previously, Mr. Steffen had gained comprehensive experience in various internationally active companies in leading commercial and operational positions, last working for Cornelius and then Buderus Feinguss as Interim CFO. Mr Steffen is a passionate motorcyclist and began amateur motorcycle racing at a young age. Even back then, he was a loyal user of Schuberth helmets, demonstrating his trust in the brand.

Project LiveWire - The First Electric Harley-Davidson Motorcycle

CONCORD, Ontario (June 19, 2014)  Innovation, meet heritage. Today, Harley-Davidson Motor Company (NYSE:HOG) reveals Project LiveWire – the first Harley-Davidson® electric motorcycle.

In keeping with the Customer-led product development approach of the Company, starting next week select consumers across the country will be able to ride and provide feedback on the bike, helping to shape the future of the first-ever electric motorcycle from Harley-Davidson.

While not immediately for sale, Project LiveWire is specifically designed for the purposes of getting insight into rider expectations of an electric Harley-Davidson® motorcycle.

“America at its best has always been about reinvention,” said Matt Levatich, President and Chief Operating Officer, Harley-Davidson Motor Company. “And, like America, Harley-Davidson has reinvented itself many times in our history, with Customers leading us every step of the way. Project LiveWire is another exciting, Customer-led moment in our history.”

Spurred by this heritage, the Project LiveWire Experience invites Customers to test ride, provide feedback, and learn more about the story of the motorcycle. Even those who don’t yet ride will have the opportunity to feel the power of Project LiveWire through the Jumpstart™ demo – a simulated riding experience.

A 2014 U.S. tour – kicking off with a journey down Route 66 – will visit more than 30 Harley-Davidson® dealerships now through the end of the year. In 2015, the Project LiveWire Experience will continue in the U.S. and expand into Canada and Europe.

“This builds on many recent reinvention successes for Harley-Davidson.” said Levatich. “In just the last few years, we’ve broadened our reach to serve an increasingly diverse society, as well as reinvented our approach to product development and manufacturing. This has resulted in cutting-edge products like the recently launched Project Rushmore, Street 500, and Street 750 [models], and this reveal of Project LiveWire.”

An Innovative Approach to Advance the Possibilities of Personal Freedom

This exciting new ride blends the styling heritage of the Company with the latest technology to deliver a new expression of the signature Harley-Davidson® look, sound, and feel.

“Project LiveWire is more like the first electric guitar – not an electric car,” said Mark-Hans Richer, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Harley-Davidson Motor Company. “It’s an expression of individuality and iconic style that just happens to be electric. Project LiveWire is a bold statement for us as a Company and a Brand.”

The bike offers a visceral riding experience with tire-shredding acceleration and an unmistakable new sound. “The sound is a distinct part of the thrill,” said Richer. “Think fighter jet on an aircraft carrier. Project LiveWire’s unique sound was designed to differentiate it from internal combustion and other electric motorcycles on the market.”
Longer term plans for Retail availability of Project LiveWire will be influenced by feedback from riders along the Project Livewire Experience tour.

“We offer a no excuses riding experience in everything we do and we are led by what our Customers tell us matters most,” said Richer. “Because electric vehicle technology is evolving rapidly, we are excited to learn more from riders through the Project LiveWire Experience to fully understand the definition of success in this market as the technology continues to evolve.”

Helping Preserve and Renew the Freedom to Ride for Generations

As riding in the great outdoors is one of the best elements of motorcycling, sustainability remains a core strategic focus at Harley-Davidson.

“Preserving the riding environment is important to all of us,” said Levatich. “Project LiveWire is just one element in our efforts to preserve and renew the freedom to ride for generations to come. As a Company that has seen success for 111 years, we think in generational terms about our great riding environments for the next 111 years.”

Knox Covert leather gloves with OutDry

Some gloves from Knox that won't make you look like a Starship Trooper!

Designed for summer riding the all-new Knox Covert glove features OutDry®, the latest in waterproofing technology which keeps the gloves thin and light, offering maximum feel and control.

Unlike standard waterproof inserts, the OutDry® membrane is bonded directly to the glove's shell. This prevents the build-up of water between the outer and inner layers as well as sealing stitching and joins, for a complete and durable waterproof finish.

OutDry® is also highly breathable, allowing perspiration to escape easily, and is windproof, reducing the effects of wind chill. Because the membrane is bonded directly to the shell, Covert are thinner than waterproof gloves with a separate membrane, giving the wearer greater feel and control. Stretch panels and box construction fingers aid dexterity too.

Made from tough yet supple Korean Cowhide, the palm and fingertips are reinforced with Pittards digital goat leather, with biofoam panels on the thumb, top of hand and outer wrist. Patented scaphoid protection is provided by low profile Knox SPS sliders.

Velcro(TM) and zip closure gives a secure fit; the latter is fully waterproof for extra protection against the elements.

Knox Covert Gloves are available in black, sizes S-XXL, at the suggested retail price of £99.99 including VAT.

Munich. For the fifth month in succession BMW Motorrad has maintained a stable course of growth. In May 2014, 14,088 (previous year: 13,081 units) motorcycles and maxi scooters were supplied to customers worldwide. This represents an increase in sales of 7.7% or 1,007 units as compared to May 2013 and a new record for BMW Motorrad for the month of May. In the first five months, BMW Motorrad delivered a total of 59,151 (previous year: 52,400 units) vehicles. Compared to the same period in the previous year, this represents a rise of 12.9%, or 6,751 vehicles.

Heiner Faust, BMW Motorrad Head of Sales and Marketing: “With solid growth of 7.7% in May and 12.9% for the first 5 months of the 2014 season, we have very easily exceeded the results for the previous year. We have managed to grow in all sales regions. Our growth is driven mainly by the new boxer models R 1200 RT and R 1200 GS Adventure. We are also particularly pleased with the incredibly successful market entry of our new products, the BMW R nineT and S 1000 R. These completely new BMW models will enable us to gain lots of new customers for the BMW Motorrad brand.”

Apart from the excellent sales figures in May, BMW Motorrad has made a very successful start to the month of June. Heiner Faust explains: “A dream came true for us at this year’s Isle of Man TT Races. 75 years after the historic TT victory by Georg “Schorsch” Meier, Michael Dunlop won the legendary road race with the support of BMW Motorrad Motorsport on the BMW S 1000 RR.”

In the meantime, preparations are in full swing for the world’s biggest BMW Motorrad meeting. The organisers of the BMW Motorrad Days, traditionally held on the first weekend in July (4 to 6 July 2014) in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, once again expect to see many thousands of BMW customers and fans. David Beckham's Brazilian Triumph Bonneville

Triumph Bonnevilles have been ridden by some of the world’s greatest icons, from Hollywood legends like Elvis,  Steve McQueen, Marlon Brando and Clint Eastwood through to modern day stars such as Ryan Reynolds, Bradley Cooper, George Clooney and P!nk.  This week has seen the first airing of “Beckham into the Unknown” – a 90 minute BBC documentary showing one of sport’s most iconic figures David Beckham riding deep into the Amazon rainforest on a custom Bonneville as he faces real life dangers and hundreds of miles of hard-core riding.

Designed to cope with the rigors of a ride few have ever completed, this Bonneville really pushed the limits. With the brief to be equally at home on Rio’s chaotic streets as it is in the depths of the Amazon jungle, loaded on and off canoes and on occasion subjected to terrain that would challenge the most hardened adventure bike, this is a tool for a very specific ride. The high level pipe, lack of mudguards and chunky tires instantly mark the bike out as a Scrambler derivative. But looking a little deeper gives clues to the model’s true identity. Starting out as a Bonneville T100, resplendent in two tone paint and chrome the bike was created as a collaborative effort between the riders and Triumph – with work done both in the UK and in Manaus, Brazil. The custom tank paint and hand-tooled leather seat covers were delivered by one of Sao Paulo’s leading custom shops, whilst even the iconic badges received a makeover. The wide Bonneville bars, high pipe, relaxed seating position and stripped back nature all combine to deliver a bike that is part desert sled, part Scrambler, part classic Bonneville and completely suited to the job at hand.

The finished machine, fresh from its Amazon adventure, definitely has a story or two to tell. From late night, mid jungle clutch lever replacement to manhandling on and off tiny native canoes, this is a bike that has seen more action than most. Ridden by an icon, on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, Beckham’s Brazilian Bonneville is definitely one of our all-time favorites.

Yamaha Introduces Short Anime Series “Master of Torque”

Yamaha Motor Corporation has released an original anime series titled “Master of Torque”. The series focuses on the exploits of three young motorcyclists set in a semi-fictional future Tokyo.

This is the first time Yamaha Motor has created an anime series. The purpose is to present the adventures and joy that motorcycling brings to your life, as well as highlighting the very popular, recently released Yamaha FZ-09 and FZ-07.

The main character, Dan Amo, is a typical Japanese office worker with a dull, daytime job. However, he’s a natural biker with skills that few can match. Dan is constantly hounded by a freelance journalist and the elite heir to the Hyuga Corporation, a world leader in the electro-fiber industry—for reasons that are still unclear.

Past episodes are available on the Master of Torque website.

The site will release content introducing National Route 246 where the series takes place—a road made famous by video games and car culture—as well as interesting aspects of Tune in for the third episode on Friday June 13th and don’t miss the conclusion of the series on July 18th

2015 - Ducati Scrambler

Born in Bologna, remembered in the hearts of motorcyclists and ready to return in 2015 - The Ducati Scrambler
  • Ducati officially announces new Scrambler to be launched in 2015
  • Ducati employees in Bologna awarded special first prototype viewing
  • Dedicated website to show project evolution online
Borgo Panigale, Bologna (Italy) 9 June, 2014 – Ducati gave its Bologna factory employees a surprise treat as they arrived for work on Monday, 9 June, with a private viewing of the prototype Scrambler intended for launch in 2015. Setting a characteristic ambience for the new model, workers arrived to discover music and a beach atmosphere with surfboards, street food and a big yellow container in which they were able view the new model undercover.
Following many years of rumour and speculation around the project, Ducati’s creative internal stunt at the Italian manufacturer’s headquarters stylishly confirms the existence of the Ducati Scrambler with the added promise that it will be available from early 2015 onwards.
Ducati’s decision to announce the arrival of the new model to its employees first, underlines the appreciation it has of its workforce, regarding it as the beating heart of the company. With them, project personnel are creating an entire world around the Scrambler with, as their impromptu beach suggested, a lifestyle of fun, creativity and free expression.
While the new Scrambler is created from the same core values that contributed to an important period of the company’s history during the 60s and 70s, it seems set to reinterpret the original model in an entirely up-to-date way. Confirmation of the Scrambler will undoubtedly delight the thousands of fans who have been dreaming of such a project for many years.
Non-conformist, accessible and essential, the new Ducati Scrambler is said to represent the perfect combination of the traditional and contemporary, while returning to the pure essence of motorcycling - two wheels, wide handlebars, a simple engine and a lot of fun.
As yet no official images have been released and none of the lucky Ducati employees were allowed to take photos inside the big yellow viewing container, but Ducati confirms the new Scrambler will finally break cover this autumn and become available from early 2015 in Ducati Stores worldwide.
Those hungry for more information and who wish to follow the fascinating journey through the development of the project can do so on the dedicated website or gather content via the #scramblerducati hashtag.

Round #1 Wiesner Insurance Ontario Enduro Championship

Sunday June 8th will mark the kick-off of the most exciting and talked about series in off-road racing in Ontario. The first of this four round series will take place at the well know property in Shelburne that was the birth of this race format five years ago.
All riders are welcomed from the most novice level child on a 50cc automatic up to and including 16 year old experienced off-road racers on full size bikes. Champions will be awarded in the following classes:
Pee Wee – 50cc Automatic
C – Class – Novice riders with minimal to no competition experience
B – Class – Intermediate level racers with racing experience
A – Class – The most experienced top level racers on small wheel bikes
Super Youth – 16 years of age and under on full size bikes
The “special test” enduro race format has riders competing individually against the clock and not bar to bar. This allows for a much more controlled environment for youth who may be intimidated by Cross Country or Motocross competition. This is not to say that the racing isn’t fierce. Anyone who has attended one of these events knows that riders are pushing extremely hard to set the fastest time in their class. With electronic transponder scoring, results are fast and accurate. Transponders are on loan for those who do not own one.
As always, the $30 entry includes a BBQ lunch and refreshments for all. Lunch is available after the competition finishes and before the awards ceremony.
This year we would like to introduce a new feature to the event which is an equipment and bike “swap meet” area. This area will be clearly marked at each round and people are encouraged to bring their used riding gear, parts, and bikes for sale. As we all know, kids grow out of riding gear and motorcycles very quickly and what better opportunity is there to pass down your boots, pants or bike to the next proud owner. It is asked that all items are marked with name, contact number and price when put on display for sale.
Weather is looking perfect for race day and the course has just been groomed. It will be a fantastic day.

14th BMW Motorrad Days is set to be a huge celebration of motorcycling

Family celebration time again. The 14th BMW Motorrad Days is set to be a huge celebration of motorcycling – including BMW's racing history, spectacular displays and plenty of live music.

The first weekend in July (4-6 July 2014) is the time when the BMW Motorrad family comes together again, the extended family of all those who are related not by blood but by engine fuel. The BMW Motorrad Days is the biggest BMW Motorrad meeting in the world, and it is quite astounding when you realise just how warm and cordial the whole event has remained throughout its fourteen-year existence. Everyone is welcome in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and any type of vehicle too, from pushchair to two-wheelers of all types, including some who will be making their way on one of the beloved original BMW R 50 motorcycles.

This year BMW Motorrad will be celebrating 90 Years of Championships and Titles in the Classic tent. Jewels from the BMW archives document the successful beginnings, starting with the BMW R37 at the first German Championship in 1924 in the Eifel and Solitude races, the victories of the 'cast-iron' Schorsch Meier at the European Championships in 1938 and the victory on the Isle of Man in 1939, the first Senior TT event won by a non-British entrant. The sidecar successes of the flat-twin boxer engine between 1954 and 1974 are also shown, as is the first AMA Superbike race in 1976, won by Reg Pridmore riding a BMW R 90, a bike that still commands much respect today. Rally images from the 1980s illustrate the rebirth of BMW Motorrad as a sporting force. The journey through time comes to an end with the recent successes in the SBK and Superstock events achieved by the BMW S 1000 RR. There will also be sales of historic parts in the tent, along with the stands of BMW Motorrad clubs from all over the world and experts from the BMW Group archive to have expert talks.

Displays: Reduced gravity – plenty of burning rubber
  • Our multiple stunt world champion Chris Pfeiffer will again be presenting a whole battery of his latest tricks on his BMW F 800 R. Chris got a grade A in sports but only a D in physics. He still hasn't realised that what he does is not actually possible.
  • World-record precision rider Russ Swift demonstrates how to make a Mini drift into a parking space or how to drive it on two wheels just like a motorcycle.
  • By popular request from last year's event, the oldest travelling motorcycle wall of death showin the wooden Motodrom will commence every half an hour this year. Yes, we do listen to suggestions from visitors.
  • The fashion show of BMW rider equipment demonstrates just how good functional safety clothing looks these days. Never before was it possible to get rider clothes like these.
  • The Classic Boxer Sprint will once again be taking place in 2014. Details of the event will be published shortly.
Party: camp fire, white beer, and rock 'n' roll
  • This is how we party in Bavaria: a huge tent with big beer glasses and great live music. The Octoberfest-tested 'Gerry & Gary' will be supplying party spirits in the beer tent on Friday evening along with the 'Blechblos‘n', while on Saturday evening it will be time to get up on the benches.
  • American alternative: 'Dreirad' will be rocking all over the US Lodge on Friday and Saturday, with able support from 'Los Gringos on the Saturday.
  • Alternative for all age groups: camp fire music with Byron. Every regular visitor to the BMW Motorrad Days has to sing the Pippi Longstocking song with Byron at least once in his lifetime.
  • Protected from the weather beneath the 'Magic Sky', 'Carlos and the Bandidos' are being flown in from England especially for this event, to be our guests on Friday evening in the Motodrom. On Saturday evening it will be the turn of 'Velvetone“, named Germany's best roots rock band by the German Rolling Stone magazine.
  • Music when you sleep and music when you wake: on Sunday morning it is time for the 'Metropolitan Jazz Band' from Prague, who will be providing the accompaniment for the jazz breakfast.
  • And don't forget: this year there will again be a free warm up party on Thursday, 3 July at theBMW Museum in Munich: DJs and live music against the backdrop of all the great bikes at BMW Welt.
Motorcycling with and without tarmac and with or without a licence
  • Test ride all the models in the BMW Motorrad 2014 range. Ride the current R 1200 GS or the new R 1200 RT! Experience the
BMW R nineT live! You can book your place in advance from June by going to:
  • Guided panoramic enduro tours through the forests around the Hausberg near Garmisch, riding your own bike. To reserve a place, just go to the tour tent at the event.
  • Enduro Park with loan bikes from the GS model series. BMW knows what these bikes are capable of. Doubters can find out for themselves.
  • Ride without a licence in an enclosed area under the supervision of a motorcycling instructor. Many have undergone the transition from passenger to rider here at past events.
  • Big parades: On the Sunday, the convoy of classic BMW motorcycles displays living history; as always, on the Saturday, it is time for the great parade for all guests, whatever motorcycle they have.
Infrastructure: essential information about the BMW Motorrad Days site
  • More than 80 exhibitors will be presenting their products, services, activities and skills. Anyone who has anything to do with BMW Motorrad will be available here in Garmisch. A complete list of exhibitors will follow shortly.
  • We will be showing presentations by Michael Martin and other GS world travellers in the BMW Motorrad Cinema.
  • There will be a 15,000 square metre campsite alongside the festival site, which we have provided for our guests, including shower and toilet facilities (the charge is 7.50 Euros per tent for the duration of the event). Bel-Ray Racers Score Positive Results in Mugello

Round six of the 2014 World Championship took place this weekend at the picturesque Mugello race circuit in Central Italy. Situated northeast of Florence in the beautiful countryside of Tuscany, Mugello is a modern circuit with excellent facilities. As a sponsor of Team Aspar, Bel-Ray had field racers in all three championship classes, with Hiroshi Aoyama in MotoGP, Nico Terol and Jordi Torres in Moto2, and Juanfran Guevara in Moto3.

In MotoGP racing action, Japanese racer Hiroshi Aoyama represented the sole team entry in MotoGP competition. American Nicky Hayden has been struggling with a wrist injury and will undergo surgery to repair it this week. In Mugello, Aoyama scored points for the sixth consecutive event, scoring two points in Mugello with a fourteenth place finish.

14th place finisher Hiroshi Aoyama: “This morning, we tried a different setup to that which we used yesterday in the qualifying session. We liked it a lot, so we decided to keep it for the race. But when it came to race time, the condition of the track had changed a lot and the temperature had risen substantially. During the race, we suffered from a lack of grip with the rear, and it was hard for me to keep up my pace. I tried to be consistent and stay with the group that I was in. It was difficult and I had two moments in which I was close to crashing. In the end, I decided to be prudent, as I wanted to finish the race and keep scoring points.”

In Moto2 racing action, Jordi Torres arrived at Mugello with significant changes in his bike set-up to increase his confidence and control. An incident at the start of the race cost him positions, but he put his head down and turned in strong laps for an eventual eleventh place finish. Teammate Nico Terol suffered from an issue with his front tire during the event. This difficulty lead to a twenty-fourth place finish at the checkered flag.

11th place finisher Jordi Torres: “We had a good feeling about this race because we had taken a major step forward this weekend. At the last race, we had finished far back, and that led us to lose confidence. But for this Grand Prix we made big changes to the bike, and throughout the weekend we could see that they were developing well. Here in Italy, we returned to the right track, but we still have a few changes to make to the bike. In the race I made a good start, but on the second corner I was involved in a melee and almost went to ground. I lost several positions and I had to make a comeback. I had to fight a lot with my rivals. The positive point of the weekend is that we have found a good base setup, and from now on everything will be much easier.”

24th place finisher Nico Terol: “In the warm-up session we continued with our work from yesterday, and the feeling was better. I also maintained a fairly steady pace. With small steps forward, we have been regaining confidence on the bike. Basically, this morning we continued working with the same methodology as throughout the weekend. I was convinced that we could have a good race, but right from the start I had problems with the front tire and I found it difficult to keep up. It was a shame, as we were hoping to get a better outcome from this race at Mugello.”

In Moto3 competition, Juanfran Guevara worked all week to improve confidence, performance, and knowledge – a strategy that paid off on race day. He took his best ever qualifying position on the grid in eighth and backed it up with a strong race to retain that position at the checkered flag.

8th place finisher Juanfran Guevara: “This weekend went very well. We’ve worked hard and taken a step forward compared to other races. I enjoyed myself a lot here at Mugello. Maybe in the first part of the race I was a little slow and found it hard to find the pace, but later I felt very comfortable riding in the lead group. With five or six laps remaining, I had caught up a lot and could see myself fighting for the win. That was when my lack of experience showed, as I felt strange being up at the front. It had to happen someday, so I am very happy; the positive thing today is that I learned a lot. This result will help us to believe in ourselves and to know that we can be up there. Today I took my best Grand Prix race result, which is very satisfying, but we have to keep working to be in the same position at every race.”

Team Aspar relies on Bel-Ray lubricants to protect their machines and provide maximum power.
The FIM World Championship continues in Spain on June 15.
