Indian Motorcycle Unveils the Versatile and Affordable All-New 2016 Scout Sixty

Indian Motorcycle®, America’s first motorcycle company, today introduced the latest addition to its 2016 lineup —the all-new Indian Scout® Sixty — from the floor of the EICMA International Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy. The new 999cc Scout Sixty breaks through boundaries, promising to broadly appeal to new rider segments with a premium motorcycle at the lowest MSRP yet for the brand.

The new Indian Scout Sixty offers many of the same features and components of the award-winning Indian® Scout®, which was introduced in 2014 at the Black Hills Rally on the fabled “Wall of Death.” True to the craftsmanship, reliability and legendary agility of the Indian Scout, the new Scout Sixty shares the identical chassis, suspension, brakes and core engine — all mated with a new 60 cubic inch engine. New Ducati XDiavel plays starring role at 73rd edition of EICMA

Ducati presents its 2016 bike range at the 73rd edition of EICMA, the international motorcycle exhibition being held at the Milan Trade Fair in Rho November 19-22, with over 1300 square metres of exhibition space. This is a big event for Ducati which, after two days reserved for the press and those in the motorcycle industry, is now ready to show off its new 2016 range to the public.
Ducati is presenting eight new bikes at this event, of which no less than seven are completely brand new, two Ducati Scramblers (Flat Track Pro and the Sixty2 versions), the new Hypermotard 939, Hypermotard 939 SP and Hyperstrada 939 to complete the family, the 959 Panigale, the Multistrada Pikes Peak, the Multistrada 1200 Enduro and the eagerly awaited XDiavel. Completing this array of new bikes for 2016 is the Monster 1200 R, previewed in September at IAA 2015 in Frankfurt.
The XDiavel has already become one of the undisputed stars of this 73rd edition of EICMA. Even during the first two days set aside for press and industry operators, the ‘black box’, area dedicated to this latest Ducati, was practically swamped by those eager to get a close look at this new cruiser.

Victory Motorcycles reveals production engine based on Project 156

Milan Italy and Long Beach CA November 18, 2015:Victory Motorcycles today revealed the production version of the engine that powered Project 156 up Pikes Peak this summer, and will power an upcoming 1200cc class motorcycle.
 The engine was designed to deliver the strongest power and performance in its class, and was shown off in a concept motorcycle built by European builder Urs Erbacher. Erbacher is well-known in the European custom motorcycle scene taking several top awards and gaining international attention.
Erbacher’s concept – dubbed the “Victory Ignition Concept” was custom built around the first preproduction engine off of the line in Osceola Wisconsin. The concept features an aggressive stance and frames the engine with a cast aluminum chassis, performance suspension and brakes with an aggressive Project 156-inspired paint scheme. “I’m proud not only of this build, but what it represents for the future of the Victory Motorcycles brand,” says the Swiss builder. “Getting full reigns to wrap the new engine in an interesting bike is a real highlight in my career, and from what I can see any production bike utilizing this powertrain will be a fantastic ride.”
“Project 156 is a purpose built racer that took our engine design to one of the most challenging races on the planet – it was a proving ground like no other that set the bar very high for our team,” says Victory Motorcycles General Manager Rod Krois. “This engine platform, which uses designs from other Polaris products having sold over 200,000 engines, will deliver on the promise of modern American muscle that is in the DNA of every current and future product we sell. Young and Human 2.0 Partner to Build a Better Ben

Collingwood, ON CANADA – November 13, 2015 - Scottish-born Pro motorcycle road racer Ben Young from Collingwood, ON is proud to announce a partnership Human 2.0, a movement-based wellness and fitness facility located in Ottawa. Through their athlete’s program, Young looks to ensure he’s in peak physical condition heading into the 2016 racing season and beyond.

A rider with tremendous international experience, including the Scottish Nationals, U.S. Red Bull Rookies Cup try-outs, British Superbike, Grand Prix wildcard, Young’s racing career has been extensive for any rider of his age. In 2014, he split his time between racing British Superstock in the UK and AMA Daytona SportBike (now MotoAmerica Supersport) in America, scoring solid results in both.

Young spent this past season racing in the U.S. with the powerful RoadRace Factory team in the MotoAmerica Supersport championship where he earned his first MotoAmerica podium at Road America along with several top 5 finishes. In 2015, he also achieved two podium finishes at home in Canada during a one-off race weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Young, who prides himself at being able to excel under pressure as well as being adaptable to new challenges, looks forward to the next chapter of being a better Ben: “I’m excited to advance my fitness levels with Human 2.0’s sports performance programs. I want to have no excuses and be able to give one hundred percent when I’m training and racing.”

Young will continue his momentum from this past season through to a new opportunity in 2016 which he hopes to be able to announce in the coming months.

BMW Motorrad presents the experimental vehicle eRR.

Supersport dynamism and zero emission thanks to electric power.

Munich. BMW Motorrad has a long tradition in pointing out new ways and thoughts for the topic „mobility on two wheels“. For that, again and again many studies were presented in the past giving views to the future. The experimental vehicle eRR, created as a project with the Technical University of Munich, embodies an idea of an electric powered supersport motorcycle made by BMW Motorrad.
Already a couple of years ago, BMW i showed the BMW Group’s visionary and sustainable approach with the vehicles BMW i3 and i8 and their revolutionary design principles (aluminum chassis and passenger cabin made from carbon fibre) and BMW Motorrad’s C evolution proved, that zero emission, riding fun and practicability do not exclude themselves.

With presenting the experimental vehicle eRR BMW Motorrad goes one step forward and shows the possibilities of an all-electric drive in a supersport motorcycle. Regarding design and chassis technology the eRR leans on the supersport motorcycle S 1000 RR, however using an all-electric drive.

Stephan Schaller, Head of BMW Motorrad, emphasizes: „Since their market launch, the RR is giving the creeps to motorsport athletes. If acceleration, handling or topspeed – the RR is setting standards. However, if acceleration on the first metres, up to 50, 60 kph, is the point, the RR’s 199 bhp have to admit defeat by another BMW product: the C evolution with its electric drive.

We asked ourselves: What happens when combining a sport motorcycle and an electric drive? The experimental vehicle eRR brings the topic zero emission and electric drive on a new, more fascinating level."

BMW Motorrad has been on a roll the past few years. Well, the trend continues... Best nine month sales figures in 90 years.

Motorcycles segment sets new records

The Motorcycles segment posted a new record for the quarter, with sales volume up by 16.3% to 33,993 units (2014: 29,239 units). Segment revenues for the period from July to September grew by 22.7% to € 454 million (2014: € 370 million) on the back of the strong sales volume performance and a high-value model mix. EBIT improved to € 46 million (2014: € 27 million; +70.4%), while profit before tax increased to € 45 million (2014: € 26 million; +73.1%). These earnings and sales volume figures all marked new records for a third quarter. The upward trend in business has been boosted by the new BMW R 1200 R, R 1200 RS, S 1000 RR, S 1000 XR and F 800 R models, all of which have been available since the start of the season.

BMW Motorrad also reported its best nine-month sales figures in more than 90 years of operations, with sales up by 12.2% to 112,411 units (2014: 100,217 units). Segment revenues rose by 19.9% to € 1,643 million (2014: € 1,370 million). EBIT improved to € 273 million (2014: € 146 million; +87.0%). Ducati and Italia Independent sign a global partnership agreement

November 5 2015, Bologna/Turin – Ducati Motor Holding SpA and Italia Independent SpA have signed a three-year partnership agreement that involves shared product development within their respective fields of excellence. The accord’s focus is on the Ducati Scrambler, the brand created to interpret the values of the iconic 1970s motorcycle that was launched in the U.S. and then went on to become a worldwide success.
The global partnership, one in which Ducati and Italia Independent joined forces for the first time, unites the two brands as a single team bound by their creativity and original design, the true strengths behind “Made in Italy.”
To seal the agreement and ensure that the products developed together are as distinct as possible, a special logo has been created to show how the two different brands have come together in this project.
The products made through this partnership will be revealed in Miami at an event to be held during Art Basel in December.

BMW Concept Stunt G310

It’s loud in every sense of the word. The BMW Concept Stunt G310 is the latest from BMW Motorrad: a screaming one-cylinder stunt bike roadster cut from the same DNA as the S 1000 R.
Impossible to ignore in every way, it announces itself with a characteristic, short exhaust pipe and a vibrant color scheme combining the white, red and blue of BMW Motorsport with the neon yellow and green of Brazil’s national flag. Stunt mods take the place of unneeded mirrors, lights, passenger footrests or license plates. Developed with help from stunt riding icon Chris Pfeiffer, it’s designed to turn the laws of physics upside down.

Successful Roll-Out for the KTM RC16 MotoGP Bike

The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team has completed the roll-out of the KTM RC16 at Austria’s Red Bull Ring exactly 15 months after announcing its proposed entry into MotoGP in the 2017 season.

Test rider Alex Hoffmann carried out three days of comprehensive testing with the MotoGP racing bike at the venue that will see the return of the Motorcycle World Championship in 2016. The performance tests with the bike that has been completely developed in-house by KTM were conducted in good conditions and went exactly according to plan.

Pit Beirer (Motorsport Director): “Thursday was a very emotional moment, not only for me but also for the company, and I believe for many KTM fans in Austria and all over the world. This, and the start of the project on the racing circuit are just as important as any lap time. A very big thanks to Alex (Hofmann) and the entire team for the excellent performance. The feedback and the fact that we were already able to put in very many laps without any problems gives us a lot of motivation for the next steps in this long journey towards our entry into MotoGP in 2017.”

Sebastian Risse (Technical Director Onroad): “There was of course a great deal of tension and pressure on the team and the roll-out took place earlier and on a larger scale than originally planned. The fact that it all went as smoothly as it did, and the data that we have been able to gather makes us very optimistic about the further development of the KTM RC16. Although we are still far removed from the detailed work, these three days were a very positive and instructive test for us.”

Alex Hofmann (Test Rider MotoGP): “What shall I say? Just take a look at my boots and the bike. They both look like new. I have already experienced very different premieres. A big respect for what KTM has already achieved in this extremely short time. I think you can not only see it in my face, but also among all those who have worked here with such enthusiasm and professionalism.”

Another test with Alex Hofmann and the second test rider Mika Kallio is planned for this year. Parallel to this, there will be intensive further development on the KTM RC16 at KTM factory in Austria’s Mattighofen and Munderfing.
